BEST SQUAD! 2/14 UKR Carpathian, 7pm PST
Another nice little round SLing with DaVinci, Lord Zarfax, TheeAngelofDeath, [52]Killer2001 and NutKuban. We took the Carpathian East Cabin right away, and the tone set by the TGers was soon emulated by all the squad members.
I let folks know where I wanted mines, medpacks supplies, and where I would be to provide spawn if the flag was taken. We got C4 down and I watched the map probably 40% of the game to keep an eye on our team, squad deployment and enemy spots. We repelled three incursions by fast jeep on the road below, with the usual attempts at the defile just W. of the flag with relative ease. Then they sent a tank our way, which we smoked, hit with ATs and, in a moment of brilliance, newcomer Killer stole the tank when the driver hopped out to repair! Thus fortified, I quickly traded out one of our kits for an engy of our own and we deprived the Germans of a tank for a good 15 minutes. We lost the tank and the flag in a well-coordinated attack by Luckyshot's squad, but I was able to stay alive by running down the same defile and circling around the mountain to attack the flag from the top of the hill. Lucky was hiding behind the rock group on the road to the West, and my squad flanked him from above and below in a pincers manuever that got our flag back. In all we repelled at least 7 attacks on our flag, and they got a deserved Best Squad for the round on UKR. Excellent work by every squad member, everyone pulled their weight, did their kit's function and I more than once found them doing already what I was about to give an order to do. Sometimes everything just works, and you're in the zone both as SL and with your SMs. Thanks, Guys!

Re: BEST SQUAD! 2/14 UKR Carpathian, 7pm PST
This had to have been 2/15, but no biggie. I have a cool screenshot that I will post at the bottom from that round.
Tonight's Carpathian, if I can rant a little bit, featured some of the most illogical SL tactics I have seen in awhile on the German side. It takes 3 flags to bleed and it seemed like only 2 squads were going for flags. Early in the game, after announcing that my squad would go to the Lumbermill, I was surprised to see 3 other squads slowly rolling into the flag after we already had in under control. No, they were not respawning, they just followed us in. So we requested that they take a different flag which they didn't. So we indicated that we would take a different flag if they wanted to defend it that badly. On our way to taking the third flag we needed, we looked back to see those 3 squads breaking up to all corners of the map. Of course, as we turned the third flag we needed for bleed, we were in the process of losing the Lumbermill flag that those 3 squads could have probably held. It was like this all round. Near the end of the game, as we sat on our 2 flags, we sent our APC to the North Cabin to assist squad 5 who couldn't seem to make it off the ridge. Well, Santa reported back at one point to tell me that the flag was empty, he was taking the flag on his own and the squad was still looking at him from the ridge. It was as if they weren't even trying. So, the screenshot I mentioned earlier. We held the West Cabin near the end of the game and Cuervo held the Lumbermill. We were communicating via TS and as this tank/APC pair set up shop towards the Lumbermill they didn't even see my squad sneaking between their armor. Couple C4 packs, 30 steps and one clacker and watch the fireworks! ![]() Lucky Shot |
