beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
bleh. I wrecked my keyboard sat night/sun morn around 2 am. Over voip I hear "bail. bail, bail!!!" while in the apc. for some reason, I thought that meant dump a full beer directly into my keyboard...
my new keyboard is a logitec g11 "gaming" keyboard. seems good enough, but its a bit strange going from MS ergo keyboard to a standard layout. the macro keys are nice, and i can see them being very useful in other games.

Are you sure it broke the keyboard? I thought a keyboard could get wet and you just had to unplug it and wait for it to dry. Either way it is a good excuse to get a new cooler keyboard

Re: beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
I remember when i got tired of my old crappy keyboard, I took it to school and during football practice, berzerkwalrus got the keyvoard and smashed it across my head. (i was wearing my helmet when he did it) but it hurt like hell, he had to do it twice in order to completly demolish it. My new key board is a logitech Y-SZ49

Re: beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
yeah, it is fubar, I took it apart after it had time to dry -To check to see why it was spitting out strange things. For example, when you hit the space bar, it woudl type out "a a 132 9 ". Pretty much every key was remapped like this and often set off several chars. I am guessing the resistances of each connection were screwed with or something. I tried reinstalling drivers etc. I could see the beer had gotten between the two layers of plastic that form the microbutton that the keys depress.
I picked up a new headset too It sounds much better than my current headset.

That's why you should never have a full beer beside your keyboard. In fact, there is no good reason to ever put down a full beer.

Re: beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
this same thing happend to me :|
Take the keyboard apart, there should be the 2 layers of plastic that when you kit the key they connect. clean them and let them dry and put it back together. The sugar in beer makes them stick. Btw i got the new microsoft ergo its great if you like ergo boards. |

I bought the Z board with the BF2142 Key Set. It works well but taking some time to retrain my fingers.

Re: beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
I haven't tried it, but I understand that putting your keyboard in the dishwasher and then letting it dry is an excellent way to clean it...

Re: beer + keyboard = @#$%@#^Q@
Man, I can attest to this. I had a brand new MS ergo 4000 keyboard.....about 3 weeks after owning it I had some beer go down the wrong pipe, I ended up putting a mouthful right into the keyboard...busted the B key. Had to buy a new one. I even sprayed it on my LCD's....man that was an awful cleanup to do right in the middle of gaming

The beer helmet is where its at... longer time between fridge trips, and you wont spill it in high stress situations!! Sippy cups are almost as cool
