8800 GTS OC 320MB results...

Just ordered a BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB for my new system.

E4300 @3.0GHZ
Gigabyte GA 965P DS3
GeIL 2GB DDR2 (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz

I am at the moment with no card as i have had to RMA two X1950pro's within 3 weeks due to memory failures on both cards. I thought about it a little and decided to spend the extra and be ready for DX10 & Vista.

Any1 with any results with these cards yet? Especially overclocking limits if any1 has tried.

tomshardware has a good article at low resolutions it's equivilant to a 640mb version but at high res (1920 and higher) takes a very large hit.

Here is another article comparing different cards:

I know you are asking about overclocking but I don't know anything about that. Hopefully my 8800 will be here next week. I decided to take advantage of the eVGA step-up program.

If your playing at 1280x1024 or lower res you can max just about everything out on 99% of the games and have no problems, I'll be getting one as soon as I can afford to buy a new PC all together.

Articles look great. I do indeed play @ 1280x1024 at present so the card looks like a nice purchace for the coming year.

A friend of mine had one delivered yesterday and he has a 22" samsung, all the games i have seen so far look sweet and run perfectly at 1600x1200 with absolutely no problems ( including Vanguard ), which is nice to know.

You are correct Sir,

Core Speed - 550MHz instead of 500MHz on the standard cards.

I believe i can get more out of this though

I'd be shocked if you couldn't get 600-650mhz out of the core and 850 out of the ram.

Speaking of cooling is there any type of aftermarket cooling you can put on these double thick cards? or is it necessary? I looked around but I couldn't find anything.

I don't have mine yet. I am still waiting for eVGA to process my credit card. I think those guys play video games all day or something From what I have been reading it looks like this card is worth it. I will definatly let you know how it is when I get it though

I think the exact length is 10.4 inches. I can't remember where I found this info or I would send you a link.
