Sniper Warning
Before I get to far I should explain some problems I have. I am soon to be 48. This is not normally a problem other than reflexes but it does not help my second issue. I have Diabetes. Again, this is not a problem I cant deal with .... except.... the most noticeable part of this is eye sight that is less than great. Combine this with the fact that I am near sighted to begin with and that my soon to be 48 year old eyes dont like to refocus as well (bi-focals suxor), makes it something impressive that I can hit anything while playing.
Wait ... I have more .... "if it aint broke ... leave it alone" which is why my compaq S700 monitor has been on my desk for 7 years. Great monitor for most all the apps that people my age would need it for, but it does not help much when 20 something year olds are shooting at me from the shadows. So..... I went out today and bought a flat panel. Specifically a viewsonic 19" widescreen LCD. It sure seems different. Very much brighter and sharper that the old one. Oh, I know it will not help any lack of talent, but.... if it helps tighten up 1 or 2 pixels when I am sniping at the longest possible ranges .... then I might just become a Major pain in the rump with the Anti-material rifle instead of a minor irritation. Of course... I could just really suck and am just a danger to be near .... Either way...... BE WARNED ![]() |

Re: Sniper Warning
Yeah, I like to attribute any improvements in my gameplay to switching from an 8 year old IBM 17" to a new Dell 19" LCD.
And my eyes aren't yet thirty!

Re: Sniper Warning
But 40 is the new 30...nope...didn't make me feel any better either.

Re: Sniper Warning
Over all.... I like it. I see things much better even though Floyd says I need to put in some command line stuff. Mainly, I see more difference between objects. Someone hiding in a shadow becomes more defined. My head shots have increased (as a sniper) quite a bit.
I am having trouble up close. It is probably an adjustment to the mouse tracking speed. It does seem spastic now. It might be I am pushing the video card past it's limits. We shall see. |

Re: Sniper Warning
LOL ... I stopped because some fool (you maybe) put an enemy sighted question mark behind us. Also.... Jaymind died there just a minuet before. I had thought he ran over himself but then the question mark showed up. I was looking out the gun sight to see if someone was there.
So Lucky did you learn any thing in the "learn TG" group? Hope they showed you how to not be an easy sniper target?? I need a better challenge :P |

The cool thing about gaming with a bunch of guys that are way better than yourself is if you go back and play Vanilla BF2 (God forbid) you will find that your game has risen to a whole other level. I have always done well pubbing in Vanilla BF2 but when I play the TG server for a couple weeks only and then go back I tend to own a bit. Good feeling. I've gotten into a cycle now: get owned real bad on the TG server then go back to Vanilla and kick some butt to build my confidence back up. Then back again...ad infinitum. BTW...good choice of monitor. My 19" Samsung helped my game out a lot.
