Arrow Northern Strike Server

Tactical Gamer is now hosting a Battlefield 2142 Northern Strike server. The IP address is 72.36.201.10, port 16567.

We will initially be running the server with a map rotation of
  1. Bridge At Remage
  2. Liberation of Leipzig
  3. Port Bavaria
Also, this also brings the return of epic 64-player battles. Please bear with us over the next few days though, we'll be tweaking things to try to ensure the best game-play possible. See you all on the (colder, more slippery) battlefield.

P.S. Does anybody remember where we parked the Goliath?

Re: Northern Strike Server

There was a good amount of lag with 64 players, so they cut it down to 58. After that it didn't fill up again, but performance was good for me.

There is alot of armour/vehicles on these maps. Also the games take a long time. Seems like the tickets moved real slow.

Re: Northern Strike Server

The server's performance seemed to remain the same with the change. I only experienced a problem when the number of players exceeded 50. However, it did seem less severe than the internal scrimmage, though that may be due to the fact that the Northern Strike maps are more spread out than Cerbere Landing.

Re: Northern Strike Server

Does anyone experience much lower framerates on NS than they do with regular 2142? Mine were pretty low compared to normal.

Re: Northern Strike Server

everything was hunky dory until the server filled up. I really think the games would be better on 32 player maps with 48 ppl like the conquest server. Its a shame, cuz 64 ppl really is a lot of fun but the lag is too much. Maybe the other server can handle it? Either way, looking forward to trying it out tonight with the lower player count.

Re: Northern Strike Server

well, the problem with moving down to 32 players is that the goliath becomes pretty overpowering... not to mention 32 player servers seem to have a harder time filling up (my guess is that a lot of pubs order by player count)

I also find that all the NS maps drop my framerates.

Re: Northern Strike Server

I seemed to get a bit of lag when I was on the edge of the map on Port Bavaria for some reason. The other map Bridge seemed Ok, but have not played the third.

I'll have to play some more to come to a conclusion.

Re: Northern Strike Server

I have an overclocked E6700 and a 8800GTX and the snow physics effects (ie when you have explosions in the snow) bring my frame rate to its knees. I still love the maps, and last nights games were awsome. I particularly liked the 1 to 0 win I was involved in. Nothing beats a game like that.

no, not moving down to 32 players...32 player maps with 48 people, like the other server. Less flags = less flag hopping. While still keepin the amount of people up. Or more than 48. As much as the server can handle i suppose. It really is a shame we get that lag with 64 ppl though.
