Bridge at Remagen 14/3/07 - Fly Forrest Fly!

Bridge at Remagen EU side

The round started and Bommando had made a Squad. But Tybald bailed and went to bed. Bommando bailed shortly thereafter.

As you can guess the magic SL Roulette started and after 2 minutes of going round n round I ended up as SL.

Since one of my SMs already was at Western Bridge I did hold my spawn. We got the flag and I spawned in next to the Helipad and grabbed our newly spawned Airtransport!

I didnt tell much to my SMs. Just that I wanted a support and some people to repair and throw down motion mines meanwhile.

So we had a good time up there. Raining down death on the people below - throwing down motion mines - getting hunted by random walker gunners. After a while we even managed to get enemy engineers to spawn with the SAWW AA. I had to dive in with the Transport to claim 1-2 poor souls with my shield up then immediatly back out again flying a big circle and get repaired.

The enemy team was unable to bring us down at all till like 10 tickets before the round ended. I think that was at the point when we had 2 SAWW engineers teamwork us down. A shout in the "ALL" channel from Eroak like "That took WAY too long...!" sealed the proof of our good work.

The last tickets I told my squad to group up on the empty helipad and make a campfire and talk about old times when we made lots of kills and stuff

Sadly this is the only screenshot I got because my ALT+TAB didnt work when I tried to fire up FRAPS. But we did make it to No1 Squad. A honorable mention goes out to LuckyStrike777 who repaired our ass for most of the round. Towards the end he d/c and ended up on the enemy team.

Congratulations to whoever got like 3 Badges during our flight and therefor was able to get his next promotion! (forgot who it was)

Doh! of course it was! ..and I even live in Germany! I am ashamed...

On the NS Server I can really feel your trouble Bom. Having a Ping of around 120 on Vanilla and 160 on NS Server - it really feels like you are fireing your weapon throu a wall of wood, then a wall of foam and finally a wall of jelly till your bullets reach the enemy.

P.S. Looking at the screenshot again - there are only 3 guys from the enemy team that have a positive K/D ratio - I dont think they had the same fun that we had

Re: Bridge at Remagen 14/3/07 - Fly Forrest Fly!

When I saw your name over the transport I said to myself "Damn it, not again. It needs to go down or we are going to lose." I came into the round well after it started and it wasnt to bad yet. I ignored him for about the first 2 minutes until one of his gunners got me twice on a speeder no less. I get annoyed when I'm killed on a speeder and it still at 90% health or more.

So I get my SAAW out. After about 15 or so hits Lyramion keeps ducking behind buildings. So the most damage I would ever get is about 66% of it. So I grab a walk or 2. I try and use the AA gun on it with Emps...Well walkers are bug railgun targets so that didn't work. I found this nice corner to the south of the west bridge gate. This was one of those buildings that he kept ducking behind. I took my normal 2 shots with the SAAW. I got the transport to 33%, He flys driectly over me to the east to go behind a build. I'm reloaded, Already got a tone with I bring the targeter up. Fire 2 shots just as he leaves my visual range. With some great timming and luck I got them and I was screaming in joy and scared my girlfriend. Then I looked at the tickets and noticed it was 6 to 120 and said "That took way to long."

That tactic I been saying for awhile now is a great way for disruption of enemy movements. It's easy to pin your enemy down or let them get moved down. It's very hard to take it down if they have a repairer and no gunships on a board.

Good work Lyramion

Great fun Lyramion. I got disconnected at the end of the round and when I rejoined I was on the other team. 15 tickets left and too late to switch. I did try to shoot you down with my SAAW though

I never really spent much time in the air transport before. I'd only spent about 30 mins total flying around.

But, combine a ping of 6 on an Aussie server with JMJ, Sausage and Zoopy and you get a recipe for destruction.

Gotta love it when people start initiating kick votes against you

Speaking of which, I joined you on that server but J.M.J had the squad locked and I couldn't join, even though I asked if I could. Zoopy got in, though. Is it because he is part of the 7th? Why the hate?

Hm, know what you feel. I'm noticing some other inhouse squads locking their squads too (like the 9th - no offense guys) I personally think we (TG) need to give pubbies a chance to join experienced squads too. Ok, I can understand if you want a 9th only squad but I have seen ones with only 4/6 players and still locked. This way non-TG'ers might feel a bit denied, so I say: inhouse squads, give pubbies a chance to play with more experienced squads too!

Sorry, I was trying to tell JMJ to open the squad, but when he drinks you can't hear much over the cursing and shouting It was hard enough to get him to invite Zoopy. That took me a full 10 minutes of reminding.

That was an anomalous situation though, since we were pubbing and just wanted to mess around. We didn't want any pubs in the squad, so they didn't start doing stupid stuff like firing transport guns at walkers and such. That's the only reason it was kept locked. Rest assured we would have been happy for you to join. Next time we'll choose a more lucid SL

As far as locked squads on TG servers go, the 7th only ever locks their squads at round start to let 7th players join up, then we open them for all. We never keep them locked after the 7th guys get in, so feel free to join any time.

That was an awesome round. I've never seen a air transport used to that efficiency before. The only way the other team could stop us later in the round was to ram us with the gunship. Too bad it was in the backwards bizarro world where everyone has a huge ping except Bommando.

hehe, yeah, it kind of breaks the scissor-paper-rock system when someone says "Gunship!" and Sausage says "I'm chasing it!". There were some very angry pilots on the other team and that's when the ramming started
