getting my damn mic to work in game again

It used to work in game, but then I started using teamspeak while playing with some friends; I was using the same push to talk button for both and for awhile both would come through at the same time, causing feedback. I then turned the ingame VoIP off and used TS exclusively for a stretch.

Now, I don't really use TS much anymore, so I'd like to have ingame working again (especially on this server), but no matter what preferences I mess with in the 2142 options menu or in my TS menus, the ingame VoIP doesn't work. I get an icon when I use it, but no one can ever hear me.

Any ideas?

I recently had a similar problem mic and all were working fine then i think it was right around the 1.20 update that my mic wouldnt work anymore. i press the button get an icon , but no one can hear me. so i bought a new headset
$80 bucks got the usb with its on lil sound card thingy. then while i was trying to get it all set up and working right i noticed the lil box under the microphone in the volume control window (also hase the word "mute" by it) had a check mark in it.

new headset works great

its the little things that make you feel ah wellllll Dumb lol.....

PS: i bought one of those headsets also,, but mine was a onboard sound problem,,, there was no mic gain and or control....

the only thing i can say is watch the MB you buy,,, if it has RealTek onboard audio think twice,, or buy a sound card with it....

check your onboard drivers and also you volume and mic control...

sometimes if you have a sound card and onboard audio and by mistake you turn both on that will cause problems.

did you try changing your push to talk button ingame????

does the mic still work in TS????

if it works in TS and not ingame id say it prolly a driver issue.

but thats just me

now that you mention it, it hasn't worked since the 1.2 patch. That didn't occur to me since I've been using mainly TS for the last couple months.

Now many of my normal gaming friends don't play so much anymore, so now I want to use in game voip. I don't think it's a driver issue since the headset is USB.

and yeah, TeamSpeak works just fine, so I know the mic works--getting a new headset is not an option...uh, especially an 80 dollar one.

the other stuff I think I've covered, but I'll look into it further.

in some cases, your system thinks it has 2 mics. mic1 and mic 2. bf2142 allways uses just one mic. make sure both mics are unmutted.

Well, after taking a good break from 2142 and patching to 1.25 recently, the mic is magically up and running again.

you will all regret it hee hee.
