Wed. Night 3/22 Northern Strike
it's been awhile since the NS server was filled ... barely get to play NS now since the server is empty for a couple of days, but when its up it's really fun!
PORT BAVARIA, PAC v. EU anyway i wanted to talk about something i picked up from fehmart while he was SLing that was particularly amazing how well it worked i think we were on the PAC side and our objective was to retake west dock back from EU; we were mostly south outside the gate exchanging infantry-to-infantry fire and it seemed to be a stalemate. but we were instructed to split half n' half, half to suppress and contain the enemy from leaving west dock on the south side, and half to go to the roof, and then move north of west dock, fall off the building and drop to the dock, take the flag and flank and wipe out the enemy i still can't believe how nice and clean that went BRIDGE AT REMAGEN, PAC v. EU i was the PAC commander for bridge, and for the first 1/3rd of the game it was just a contain at the square flag (1st flag from the EU UCB) but i wasn't paying attention and a speedy ran through and took alley, and of course that squad and the EU spread like a virus to all the flags east of east bridge head (hotel, park, military outpost) 'course after instructing the squads at square to move and reinforce the back flags, they wouldn't budge - and we had like 3 squads camping 4-5 enemy hostiles (on a 50 player map) near the UCB, while the rest of the EU forces were spawning on the back flags what surprises me is that we still won the round with a comfortable margin so my question is this -- does it *really* matter if the back flags are lost, and is there any real key point that is important on that map? i've been told that the bridge between east and west bridgehead were key, but i am not sure what one should do about it --- i'm guessing east bridgehead is the most important point on that map as it controls the other side with more flags which would determine if EU or PAC bleeds i was also told to shutup with the excessive status reports as commander because squad leaders couldnt talk to their squads i didn't think of this and is very good advise now that i think of it for another reason: it's possible to drown in too much information and that you don't know what's important vs. what's trivial when relaying info to squads |

Re: Wed. Night 3/22 Northern Strike
Before reading further, please understand that I do not want the information requested in this post to be posted to the forum. Please PM it to me instead, thanks in advance.
Does anyone from these rounds remember the name of the guy who kept camping the UCBs? If you spawned in the UCB you died and no matter how many times you cleared him out, he still went back in. I did not have a pen handy to write his name down to provide to the admins via PM. There were no 2142 admins on TS but his name was typed into the global chat a few times... Thanks again. |

Yeah, sc1ence is right on the money there. It's the CO's job to make sense of how each squad is doing and give each squad an objective to go towards that vague goal of "win". An individual SL does not need to know too much besides the objective, and any special instructions or conditions.
As for Bavaria, I think the enemy just sorta took a vacation or something while we were traversing the roof. |

Re: Wed. Night 3/22 Northern Strike
If you want to see it filled just jump in and announce it on team speak. It will work eventually. I did that last night and it took me about 45 minutes for enough people to join so we could start a game. (Thanks RocknRod and Vendi for joining me and waiting it out.) By the end of the first game the server was full. I only was able to play one game because I spent most of my time seeding it. As you know after the first game started it stayed full all night.
