April 5th Irreg nite

Just a suggestion for tonight. If the turnout rate for irregs tonight is high, we should try starting a sniper-support squad.

The idea is that we have the main IRREG squad w/ 6 people(can be a mixture of irregs and non-irregs; recommend at least 3-4 irreg members) and a IRREG sniper-support squad w/ 3 people(only Irregs, locked).

For example:

Map: al basrah
-----------------
PIRATE squad - mobile, alerts the support squad when to advance, fall back, etc.
1. SL kit - on TS Irreg channel
2. Medic kit
3. Rifleman kit
4. SL's choice
5. SL's choice
6. SL's choice
---------------------

PIRATESUPPORT squad
1. SL kit - spotter w/ binoculars and on TS irreg channel
2. Sniper/ m95/ Marksmen kit - on TS irreg channel
3. Rifleman kit - gives ammo to support squad and covers the sniper and spotter's back while they are engaging targets and alerts the other members of enemy presence.

Fundamental Principle: The Irregsupport squad will follow the main Irreg squad's 6 o clock position and lay down sniper fire at distance targets. So the Irreg squad can actually advance without getting taken out by opposition on roofs, behind barricades, etc...

Also both squads should try their best to enforce the designated kit assignments.

The Irreg Channel in teamspeak will be used to communicate and paint high priority targets for the sniper to take out.

Opinions?
Suggestions?

EDIT: edited for humor

Re: April 5th Irreg nite

This sounds interesting and I will support it on the condition that it doesn't imbalance teams having that many Irregs on one side. The other downside is the limited number of sniper kits. Using this tactic will tie the snipers to just one squad where they may be more beneficial to the entire team.

I love seeing suggestions like this and it is great that we have the opportunity to work together as a squad to develop our own tactics.

As always if the rounds end in blowouts in our favor lets consider swapping sides.

Finally I would like to see a CO on every round that we play. I would really love to see a CO with the Irregs tag!

Re: April 5th Irreg nite

This idea only requires 1 sniper rifle and in the case of running Al Basrah, the USMC team has an M95 sniper pickup kit located secretly on the map. That still leaves quite a number of advanced rifle assets for the rest of the team to use.

The only reason why I would like to see this get implemented is because, too often I see a lone sniper not helping his squad advance, just wasting his time earning meaningless kills.

ADDED: In addition, this tactic only requires 6 irregs members and some competent non-irreg SMs.

Re: April 5th Irreg nite

Yes, curious what time zone everyone is in and when the right time to be on is (due to kids, dogs, wife, not in that order). I see xcannon quite often on POE2 (hi), but its hit and miss for me on PR, from an Irreg and even a TG perspective in general. I am mountain time (for now).

I've had my 'tags' for a couple of weeks, but either because of my own lack of keeping up or the "looseness" of the Irregs, I really haven't played with any Irregs for any substantial quality play. I have only been playing POE2 of late, due to the "maps driving away quality players" issue, and Root being mean to me (jk), but I have a lot of fun in certain situations (map, squad, CO, etc).

Yes I plan on squad leading if the circumstances require me to. We are also going to need a 2nd SL if we want to put this into play. I plan to get on around 7pm - 7:30pm CST tonight.

AAARRRRGGHHHH!!! Damn my eyes for seeing this post AFTER I played my rounds tonight.

Cool idea.

I really like the concept, and executing a cooridnated efforts by 2 squads using teamspeak is an awesome idea. Other squads (notably the 1stMIP have tried this as well).

Ahhhh...the Force has become strong with us. Wimp...you are correct of course to think about game balance, but I gotta say it's awesome to think about a mob of Irregs rampaging across the lands!
