Rooftop Spawn Beacon Campers, I Love You
We had just finished a round of Fall of Berlin where we saw nearly the entire enemy team spawning on rooftops. This made us laugh so much that I started a "ROOFNOOB" squad for the next round on defence. Not to spawn on rooftops mind you, but specifically to teach our enemy that this tactic really is not very sound.
After all the discussion about rooftop spawning, I am still amazed that people on our team were upset at the other team for doing this. I for one welcomed our new rooftop overlords. As expected, our enemy posed no threat to our flags and ended up being rocket bait. Not only that, but we backed up our APC far enough so that the elevation of the main gun could hit them on the edge. Our squad spent pretty much the entire round giggling like schoolgirls. So, this is just a thank you to all those good Samaritans who kindly padded my team's stats for two rounds straight. I encourage everybody who wishes to take their team to a 169-0 loss and average a 1:2 KD ratio to employ this tactic. We love you ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Bommers - You fail to mention that it was noobs on YOUR side which were camping Statue rooftops just the previous round!
I suppose there are enough morons to go around on all sides. I like shooting them in their pumpkin heads too. Can I mention here, also, that Myself, another TG and a squad of pubbies got TOP SQUAD in a round vs the whole 9th last night? 8) Ding a ling, baby. The round you have a screenshot of had TWO squad leaders give up and leave, leaving me to pick up some pieces at the end .. it was a ROUGH breakout, and it never happened. Good work on the defense.

Re: Rooftop Spawn Beacon Campers, I Love You
Congrats Jaykay, glad to see you are teaching the pubbies to play the "TG Way", and with such great success.
By the way, the day hasn't come when the "whole 9th" has been on at once, but it may look like it sometimes. With that said, last night we did have a good presence (at least six or seven of us at one point) and we ran a few simultaneous "mixed company" squads for a few rounds and had a blast doing so each time. Now, back on topic... I find that sitting on the rooftop doesn't benefit anyone, however it can be fun to just goof around and "play" a bit when you're on the roof and you know who's on the ground if/when the situation permits (e.g. we're substantially up on tickets and our actions aren't really detrimental to the team as a whole)

fiddler on the roof. it is a well known musical.
"The show begins with a lone fiddler standing on a roof playing a tune..."

Re: Rooftop Spawn Beacon Campers, I Love You
Only reason i was up there was because the rest of my team was. I would have given you just as many points if i tryed to cap things without the help from my squad. I TRYED to get em to move, but no one did, so there was nothing i could do, except eat more of your rockets or go on foot and be a lone wolf and eat APC rounds.

Re: Rooftop Spawn Beacon Campers, I Love You
Heh, I've killed many a sniper on rooftops. To tell you the truth, I've tried doing stuff of roofs... no tactical advantage at all on Fall of Berlin.
The best thing to do, IMHO, is secure the second level of the building between roadblock and statue, and the one between outpost and statue. It gives easy access to two outposts and it's relatively easy to defend.

Re: Rooftop Spawn Beacon Campers, I Love You
I dunno...I kinda like that weird, prickly feeling I get in my tummy as I'm skydiving off the side of the rooftop and hitting the parachute at the last second (or sometimes becoming a red stain because I didn't).
It's kinda like touching your tongue to a 9-volt battery. It's got a bitter taste, but you just can't help but do it again.
