BFCL - Week I

The 9th Mobile Infantry Detachment participated in its first Battlefield Conquest League match last evening. The Spearheads took the field against The Art of Warfare (TAW) and played two rounds on the Minsk map. As the European Union, the 9th MID was dealt a quick and shocking blow in the initial minute of the round, as their adversary snuck through the front line and captured a rear Control Point. Within moments, another flag fell and the squad was pinned down around their last remaining Control Point.

While one of its fire teams dug in and fended off TAW’s advance on the final flag, the other was able to launch a counterstrike and recaptured one of the rear Control Points. This proved to be a decisive move, as the Spearheads quickly rallied from behind and began to pull ahead in tickets. The 9th MID won the first round by a score of 36-0.

After a brief intermission, the 9th MID switched sides and played round two as the Pan Asian Coalition. Its initial attack went well and the squad was able to reach the first flag with minimal losses. However, TAW caught onto the Spearheads’ strategy and survived the rush. The confusion of battle got the better of the 9th MID and its armor was held up on the front lines, but did eventually break toward the rear and capture a Control Point.

Unfortunately, even though the 9th MID was able to secure a flag, it suffered mass losses and found itself with only a handful of tickets on the board. The Spearheads made a valiant last stand and started to close the gap. In the end, however, TAW won the second round by a score of 59-0.

The result of the match was a defeat for the 9th MID by a score of 59-36. Though unable to secure a victory, the Spearheads played well and did its best to represent Tactical Gamer. More importantly, everyone involved in the match had a lot of fun and enjoyed their first competitive rounds as a squad in the BFCL.

I appreciate your dramatic style of write up, it makes for good reading.
Unluckly in the match, good luck next time.
