Team spirit on the net: Confession I'd like to make!

Good morning TG community...
The place where I writt you from is located at GMT +4 Meridian zone and it is 10:15 HRS local time. More precisely in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. Working as a HSE assistant manager, my days are poor in actions and adrenaline. Stuck in a small office, the only good time I have on the day are the road trip in bike from home to office and back. But at night after the dinner, my heading is the PC desk.
There, I seat.Prepare cigarette, hash tray , headset...light up a candle...start BF2142, enter my login name, pick up my vitual soldier ID "Saberdin"...and the heart beats start to increase. Saberdin for those who wonder means "humble" in Uyghur language, native region of my lovely wife.

Instinctly I click on cancel of the refresh and click on my favorites server list, TacticalGamer. Even if full, I give it a try until the Loading map screen appears. With impatient I look at the status bar filling up until join game be then possible...It is then in hury that I customize my kit, enter onto a spawn, and join a squad. And it starts...explosing noise, orders sir?, defend her? We are loosing this battle fight harder! Or on the speaker will come out a VOIP info, or order...that we win or loose, for me it has no big importance...the team work is.

I am thirty four of age but in those game time I am a kid. Yestarday at around 18:30 Zulu Time; my wife got out of the bath and I just finished one round as a squad member. I said my wife:" I will play another round and I finish"...the Belgrade map reloaded, change camp and choosed to be SL...participant were joining and the game started...I had a look at the Squad window and no CO...I remember of my last post "My apologises" that I had receive encouragement to apply as a CO...I hesitated a while as TG gamers were online; clans; greater rank; and the server was full...

Let's do it...I clicked on the apply icon and continued to run with my squad toward the city center where already battle was raging...and then pop up came on the button...I had been elected as CO and I accepted...I back tracked to find cover...yes here was ok..bellow a building close to the base, at the corner of the street...

There were four squad...We had to go for the offensive...over the voice I asked squad 1 and 2 to stay together and 3 and 4 as well...I cannot describe the whole round but over the game the squad stayed together and respected the requests...We had a hard fight to take over the square flag but did it finally...a few second later we loosed the roadblock...our taken position was then our priority so we set up defenced points and assigned only one squad to attack with the help of EMP strike and ORB strikes on the opposant position...

As I said above, wining or loosing is not important at my level for now...got only a few 2000+ points; still got to work out my aiming while shooting; as a CO still got to work the spot function, zooming...the aim of this thread is just to say that I really enjoy to play on T.gamer.

We won and it feels good, but I think that there were some members who were veteran and knew what to do...what was realy good was the work as a team. When I saw that the SL were staying together I was really feeling a kind of responsability...such as :"those guys listen and respect my point of view so I shall not make a wrong move in forgetting supply, or forget informing about strikes and incoming squad..."

So this thread isn't a real after action report...it is a kind of reward to the community I came to encounter by chance on looking for a team organised server when I started to play BF2142. Some might say, it is just a game...I will add as it says: a mature game playing mode server.

When I switched off the PC after this round at 17:10 HRS Zulu to share a bit of time with my wife...I had the feeling of contentment...smile on the face...because I had the honour to have been followed by the team. Wining was the reward for them and the encouragement for me.

SOP and rules of the server build that atmosphere...Congrats !

An interesting read. Joining squads together is something I will have to keep in mind.

In August, 1976 I spent the night in a hotel in Dubai. Next morning back to the airport and continued my trip across the Gulf to Bandar Abbas, where I worked for several months.

I commend you for both taking the time to Command, and for stopping and spending time with your wife!
A good reminder for us all to have our fun and know when to give our time to the family that loves us and needs our attention.

Welcome.

Great post! Welcome to the family from another person who loves to command, and hates to let down his troops! Keep working, and keep thinking about it every second that you're in charge. Sooner or later you're going to have the right responses to the problems you face.
