128?

Saw a server running at x/128

Is that possible?

The game will fill at 8 sqds on each side and 2 commanders, meaning 96+2... can we run that high?

Re: 128?

Lol, I was just going to ask if more than 64 players was possible.

Re: 128?

There is a discussion on the PR forums. There are a group of guys that have been playing with this for a while. I believe they based their work that the original BF2 demo servers could host 128 players, so they are trying to recreate that with full version and mods. They have chosen PR because of its current popularity.

This is their second attempt. The first failed at the 65th player. If you have time, jump in and help them test it.

Obviously if they are ultiamtely successfull, this has huge potential for a new gaming experience.

EDIT: ADDED SERVER GRAPHIC BELOW:

Re: 128?

A 128 player-server [or experience for that matter] would under the right circumstances be awesome. I can only imagine, but there is good potential to some intresting tactics etc if the map also are increased. Really have organized [dedicated] squads etc.

I mean, for TG, it would not really be that difficult to fill such a server during weekend-nights.

Re: 128?

Looks like this was a no go. The server wouldn't let more than 64 players join. But, they may have made some subtle progress as this time the server didn't crash, it just wouldn't let more than 64 join...

Re: 128?

The guy working the code may have a third attempt ready this weekend, maybe even tonight.

Re: 128?

That's one thing I loved about Joint Operations. 150 player servers.

If BF3 introduces anything new, I hope it increases capacity to at least 100 players.

Re: 128?

Cool, I remember years ago about 128 players being discussed but Ive never seen it happen. Kashan desert with 128 would be cool, it'd be too much for forest though

Re: 128?

was not BF2 suppose to have 128 - 200 online players? if I rememeber right, having a 128 plus player onlinewar game was one of their top pre selling points.
