Problem adding |TG| tag

I'm trying to add |TG| to the "Clan Tag" field at the BF2142 Login screen, but it won't let me use the verticle line, it doesn't seem to allow the | or \ characters at all. any ideas? Thanks in advance!

You have to have faith and magic!!... if you type in the | key it does not show on the entry screen but it will show up in the game... Dont know why it just works that way.

I believe you use the | character, its shift + \ (key above enter/return). In the 2142 login screen, it won't show up, but it will be there. There's a thread with a how to on how to do this correctly, I'll try to find it for you.

Why edit files when you can just put the pipes in the text field...

Some people might not know about the pipes not showing up in the login screen, so they can do it in the file and see it easier, all just preference I guess. I had no problem with the login screen myself.

I edit the files becuse it's easy and more reliable due to the "not showing up" issue. I've seen people with only one pipe or three sometimes. If you edit the file you *know* you got it right, whereas if you enter the tag in the box you can't guarantee that. But, yeah, the box works most of the time too.

I've noticed some inconsistency with pipes showing up in different situations for different people, for example, my pipes show up fine in radio messages, and in " X killed X" messages etc. however when I jump into a vehicle the little thing that pops up with who is in the vehicle doesn't show the pipes, as well as the end of the round scoreboard I believe. But others will have there pipes show up properly in those situations. Can anyone explain this? is it because they have the |TG| tag as the begining of their actual name instead of as an added clan tag?

Some people use upper case 'I' or square brackets '[' in place of pipes. These will display differently then pipes. This might be where the differences that you are seeing is coming from.

Yes, the vehicle occupancy thing has issues. In fact, not only that it doesn't display pipes, but if your name is too long it will cut characters from the front and some non letter characters. When I enter a vehicle I read something like "G3rdWaffleHousChef".
