TG-7th Squadplay #1 : Brutal Deluxe

I've been wanting to make one of these for a while, but just never got the chance to get everything together to do it in first person. Now that we have Battle Recorder, I thought I'd download one of our fun rounds and make some commentary on the strategy of a PAC Assault on Cerbere Landing.

I highly recommend downloading the high quality FileFront Version, but if you'd like to leave a comment or rate the video, I also have a YouTube Version.

You can also download the original Battle Recorder File to follow the squad in more detail.

Bonus points for guessing the two retro video game remixes I used (before the movie finishes and tells you)

Final Scores: 142-20 KD Ratio for the squad.

Nice video! Having BR on now is really nice for being able to get some really sweet action overviews.

What editor do you use Bom?

Re: TG-7th Squadplay #1 : Brutal Deluxe

awesome.

A few things to look at:

1. Look at the spacing of the squad members. Rarely are we very far apart, but we're also rarely close enough that a single rocket, grenade or OS takes the lot of us out.

2. Take a look at revives. Notice that although people FREQUENTLY go down in this video, you'll hardly ever see more than one defib paddle out. The rest of the squad knows intuitively who's reviving and who's covering. This is important because two people going for the same revive is a waste (as well as dangerous), and it's a frequent problem on TG servers.

3. Look at how people react to revives. It's lightening quick in most cases. The revive comes, and BOTH parties in the revive are on their feet and moving instantly.

Still downloading though I think I was the first to see this thread, not going to be done for another hour, and won't be home. From the youtube, can't tell what the first song is yet.

you should be able to stream it from filefront, anospa. unfortunately it's still not good enough quality to see names of people.

Windows Movie Maker! I'll use Vegas for the next one when I have time to fiddle with it. It's just so damn fast and easy to slap a video together with WMM, it's hard to justify getting cute with a more advanced editor.

I recommend downloading the BR file for this alone. The intuitiveness of this squad was amazing. The one and only hiccup was the failed shift from East to West of Roadblock. I really couldn't fault anything else. Superb effort by all of you!

You mean the "Tybalt was trying to kill whore east and distracting everyone else so noone noticed the movement of the Squadleader" part?

This is something the 3rd has really worried about. It seems in people's desire to be helpful and on the spot, sometimes they go for revives where they shouldn't. Each medic in your squad needs to have high situational awareness and immediately understand that who is in the best position to make the revive, and trust that they will make the revive.

Compared to random pub servers with no revives, too many defibs out is a great problem to have. This reminds me of that something I heard "The rich have problems too, they just have a better class of problems"

The whole revives tactics questions is something I am glad the in house squads are mastering.

PS still downloading, not watched vid yet

Re: TG-7th Squadplay #1 : Brutal Deluxe

  • Excellent, you're really pushing TG movie making forward with battlerecorder
  • only negative is player cam keeps you in the middle of the screen but thats where the captions were coming up too. I suggest putting the text bottom of the screen.
  • your graphics are sexy
  • this is the best vid I've seen to pull the audience into the SL tactics especially on the church attack at start, good use of 3rd person overhead view. Its difficult to communicate what the SL is thinking and to show youre not just running around together, that there is tactical thinking there. You got that thinking across, 5 stars.
  • WMM is great for throwing a movie together quickly. I agree vegas (or the alike) can take hrs for fancy stuff that doesnt necessarily make a difference. What counts is great footage. WMM cannot seperate out sound from visuals though, so to take fraps footage from game including squad chatter and overlay that chatter onto battlerecorder footage cannot be done with WMM.
  • your graphics are sexy

Excellent video! Nice viewpoint, and good look at squad cohesion; esp. like your explanations for actions taken/redirected throughout the match.

So many people poo-poo WMM for its lack of features. When you want something done quick and dirty, it's the perfect app for the job.

So with BR, the easiest way to make videos is:
BR -> FRAPS -> WMM
I assume?
