Re: Reputation points

There used to be a graphical representation of your rep below the avatar . The system was abused my a minority though and was removed. The rep comments are a really good way of communicating your approval or dislike for a post though, especially when a pm or reply is unwarranted. They are also great for a bit of friendly banter. For this reason the rep system was partially reimplemented to allow the comments to be seen and points to accumulate without it actually doing anything.

I think Apo had something in the works a while ago for it but im not sure on its progress.

Re: Reputation points

thanks, i was just wondering because it does seem like a good thing to get rep points from the higher ranked members and such. Makes you feel like your doing something right doesnt it

thanks again

Later.

Re: Reputation points

^^^ yep, that's the point!

(more further info: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/search.php?searchid=626460 )

Other tidbits:
- You can see individual's rep-points in their profile.
- If you mouseover rep-bubbles, you get a funny little phrase that changes based on your rep

Re: Reputation points

Dead link Whiskey.

-rep for you

Actually, thats an interesting point. Ive very rarely seen negative rep used. It seems to be considered something of a "nuclear" option so be careful with that one.

Re: Reputation points

I consider a negative rep to be a lot stronger than a positive rep. I have actually yet to neg. rep anyone here.

I think I did once.. but the post was so ridiculous I think the user was eventually banned from the TG forums.

I know +rep is green, -rep is red.. what is a grey rep?

Re: Reputation points

Grey rep is a reputation given by a player with less than 15 posts.

Hmm I never knew that. Didn't there used to be a "neutral" rep option?

Re: Reputation points

Any type of rep. given from a player with less than 15 points turns out grey. Positive or negative.

Re: Reputation points

hee hee. Root gave me my only negative rep for being a brat. I was pissed at him, so it was deserved. A good learning experience! +rep to him, wherever he is.
