vanilla BF2 competitions at BFCL
BFCL BF2 Division Manager here. I see TG entering a number of teams in BFCL for PR and POE2. I'd like to remind you guys that we've got some good BF2 competitions going or soon to be going.
What is coming up at the end of July is the Summer 8v8 full combat season. We are planning a new 3v3 sniper competition to begin July 1 for all those closet snipers with no competition of their own. I think it just might be a lot of fun. Visit the BFCL forums for details. I'll just say its not going to be like 'run and gun' infantry-style. It will require a range of sniper-specific skills and teamwork to win. Anyway, just wanted to invite our TG friends to check out the BF2 competitions, if the you get the urge. Drop a post in the forums if you are interested in one of these competitions. By the way, I've played your POE2 server. Always the best one. |

Thanks for the heads-up General. While we don't play vanilla here regularly anymore, there may be some squads who want into the competition.

3v3 sniper matches look like less of a mess. It might be worth a shot.

Re: vanilla BF2 competitions at BFCL
The way the sniper competition was going to be set up was 3v3 with 2 ways to win. The unique part of this competition was that if you are killed, you may not respawn in. Therefore you can win by eliminating the enemy team or you may win by tickets. This means if you are the lone person left on your team, you can't force a draw by hiding out somewhere until time runs out. Match winner is best of 3 rounds.
In testing this competition, we found rounds to generally run 15-20 minutes. Flags were taken, pistols, claymores, grenades were all used but none of them dominated. It really was a careful, deliberate, teamwork kind of play, interupted by intense moments. I'll tell you, when you are down to 2 bars from a M95 shot, you are pretty much scared to move lest you trip and die. Yet, with 2 bars you can still win. All sniper weapons would be fair to use and there would be no commanders or vehicles. |
