CoD4 --Opinions?

I just viewed the COD 4 trailer...and it looks interesting.. although what can you tell from a spotty cinematic trailer.? Anyways.. I was just wondering what you COD2 players were thinking about this Non WW2 game?
The Battlefield series made the transition fairly well..How will COD, which Handled ww2 better (imho), make the transition to a Modern Battlefield? I hear there are no vehicle in the Multiplayer modes.. That may be a negative..

Thanks!

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

The thing that makes COD2 so nice, is you dont have to have the best machine in the world to run it. Slow machine with decent settings is still a great looking game. I have a feeling that COD4 is gonna take a machine that nasa uses. I could run GRAW, slowly, hopefully the settings will be similar.

I do plan on giving it a try just so i can see.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

I can't wait. I'm also happy to hear that there may not be vehicles in CoD4 multiplayer although that might change as the game is developed. It's good that the CoD games are continuing along the infantry route instead of copying BF2 outright by adding tonnes of vehicles. I'm looking forward to it.

And yes, we'll probably need a decent machine to run it on.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

I have to agree with obi. We will have to actually wait and see exactly what the game is going to be about and how well it is made. Nothing can compare to the old WWII CoD2. I am just hoping that it does not turn into another BF2 type game.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

It looks interesting, but like everyone else mentioned... who knows if it will have the CoD feel that we all have grown to love.

We shall see.

I agree with all the above. The thing about BF2 is the vehicles. One airship and you die all day long. That was not fun and the weapons were not real. You couldn't hit anybody with the mg at 20 meters which is not realistic and the rpg's are not used correctly I think. So give me the ground pounder games.

If it can be modded, then we can tweak it to our liking.

If they are smart they'll let us mod it. All the other PC CoD games have been moddable.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

Graphics are similar to COD2, just a modified engine. With more details, and more foliage. Ground textures are still lacking quite a bit. It's pretty fun. I like playing it the way it is, so I don't I'll play it modded.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

Trailer here: shows that the game will be shipped with a 'Hardcore' gamemode which is basically a realism mod for the game (good news for PR fans?) Interviewee also mentions that the game will be open to the mod community.

Re: CoD4 --Opinions?

I have already contacted Apophis about support for this game and he said it will be supported, so we probably will have a server up.
