Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
I've loved the series of stories and am looking forward to HL2Ep2.
I'm a little concerned at the news that TF2 will remove grenades. As a non-twitch player, I liked the ability to get tricky bank shots with grenades to get those guys hiding behind corners.

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
Steam will do fine, if the people that design it actually play it every once in a while. Heaven forbid they actually even listen to thier gamers and work on things that need fixing.
Crosses fingers..

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
I love Steam. The server browser is 1000 times better than anything EA's ever done. I HATE all the Battlefield ingame browsers and how much of a pain it is to install your games...install BF2, download and install patch in order to install expansions, install expansions, reapply patch you just installed, then finally play after you defrag after all that crud. When I install Half-Life2, it puts Steam on, then steam goes to work doing everything automatically for me. SO much better.

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
Steam is absolutely the best thing going when it comes to online delivery of games.
I bought Prey at CompUSA for like $5 when they were closing. I never even put the CD in my drive. I simply opened Steam, put in the CD key and now, no matter what computer I'm on, or where I'm at, I simply login to Steam on that computer and it will download any of the games that I've paid for so that I can play them there. It might've been rough at first, but Valve really got the important parts of Steam right. Oh, and I can't wait for Episode 2 and TF2. I know that Portal is also in the bundle. What are the other two games?

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
Now if they'll just allow authentication of the CivIV games in the same way that Prey allows...

Steams great. Easy to use, great interface and downloading games is a breeze. Can't wait for Half Life,TF and Portal!

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
Looks great. Older games on Steam for cheap (<$5) is one thing I've been wanting a long while.
If you want a box copy, then yea you'll have to. Buying straight from Steam however, you'll be able to buy each game individually (or in special packages).

Re: Steam is getting an upgrade.
In May I finally broke down and installed steam.
Now I got all the HL series one and two, plus 4 other games, all for CHEAP and no fussing with a cd/dvd in the drive. happy happy
