Carpathian And Berezne AAR
The games tonight were particularly good on Carpathian and Berezne. This was in large part to the TG'ers spreading out to squad lead. Sgt York, Emale and myself led squads for the Germans against Beatnik, Shakey and Global Conflicts Cheesy. The remainding TG'ers spread out throughout the squads with the last spots open to new people.
The end result was well defended flags, lengthy assaults and a battle of wills. The South Cabin on Carpathian pitted our squad against Shakey and Santa. The flag did go back and forth a couple times, but the majority of time was spent playing a bit of hide and seek around the mountain to see if we could get a couple necessary kills before moving in and taking the flag. We fought over this flag back and forth for close to 10 minutes before backing off when the Germans brought in a tank. From the South Cabin, we crossed the valley to the Lumbermill. With another squad assisting, we were able to kill their tank, steal it on respawn and clear the straggling defenders. Sorry Beatnik and Cheesy's squads, but it was a successful and lengthy battle. It then became clear that the majority of our team was heading out to this flag for defense. So upon finding a couple jeeps, we moved to the North Cabin to defend. We found the flag flipping as we arrived as Cheesy had arrived quicker. We battled at equal footing and were stopped forcing us to try the higher ground. When we failed there, we went back to the ground even with the flag, flipped it then fought uphill to clean out the higher ground. Another 7 minute battle and successful with our squad and Emale's squad assisting. Berezne featured the same back and forth fighting, first over the farm as we battled against Beatniks squad + various armor. We held them off several times until my defenders were caught too far out (Sent them to assist with taking watermill) and didn't respond quick enough to fall back to the flag. We tried to reclaim the flag from the heights above, but it was not to be. Our next assault was on the Radar Station inbetween defending assaults on the Field. My favorite moment had to be explaining exactly where I wanted mines dropped in the eventuality that a tank may show up. When it did, it hit the mines exactly where I thought that sucker would go. When knocked down to two flags and hearing Cheesy talking trash about how his flag was needing some attention. So we took the bait and circled to the north side of the flag from the field. Battlerecorder showed 3 squads defending at the time, likely bolstering Cheesy's confidence. However, Beatnik had his squad fall back to the Radar Station (I tried to track him down on his way out but was too far back) and the other squad assisting Cheesy started to leave also. This left it to squad on squad. The south house was CRAWLING with enemy, however we only needed to clean out the bottom floor to make way for us to flip the flag. From there it was a matter of cleanup. Both rounds ended up being German wins if I remember correctly and both were very close. Thanks again to the above named players for spreading out for some real TG fun. Also, thanks to Clawhammer for helping me keep everybody together and on track. Also, thanks to WarriorDD, Quinn557, Namebot, Deadsideshow and Sniperwatch for making the round a lot of fun! Lucky Shot |

Re: Carpathian And Berezne AAR
Great games last night. I wasn't SLing on Carpathian since it was my first game back in a few months, but we had some fun in a good squad that was led by a name I can't remember ATM.
Berezne was fun, though a bit too disorganized on the UKR side. Radar Station was consistently undefended, and my squad (and Squad 5 - can't remember the SL's name) were constantly falling back from our more forward flags to take care of that as well. It was fun to run up against Lucky and Mantis at the Farm flag, and luckily I think we held on to the flag for the majority of the round, despite some back and forths over it with Lucky's squad and possibly another. One highlight was assaulting the Farm from the hills, using a distraction to the North. And then seeing the defenders all charge East toward our last position while we flanked South. Lots of great skirmishes all around that flag last night. My squad was on top of it the whole game, and it felt good to play that flag "fresh" after a hiatus.

Re: Carpathian And Berezne AAR
I played that Carpathian round in York's squad and the last few minutes we spent defending the Lumbermill were a lot of fun. Cheesy's squad kept pushing close on foot from the west, and kept spawning like rats, I swear. In fact, until Lucky said so just now, I had no idea who was leading that squad, try as I might to knock 'em out... It was tense in the end.
Props to squadmates Boss York, Axis, 9mm, Goose(?). Sorry I can't remember more.. |

Re: Carpathian And Berezne AAR
Some intense conflict, indeed! I was in :GC:Cheesy's squad, who squad-led admirably. Carpathian became frustrating after the 3rd flag we lost and couldn't get back. I was proud of our efforts on North Cabin, and noticed several times in both Carpathian and Berezne that it took more than one squad to pry us off a flag.
Unfortunately, the squad was plagued by communication problems in the beginning minutes of Carpathian; mines were not laid, medics (including me) had a hard time keeping up, and we lacked some cohesion, but it really came together when we moved to N. cabin. Unfortunately by the time we cleared the hill, the flag and cabin was swarming with enemy. Berezne got off to a bad start for the UKR when I saw the farm go to the Germs in the first 30 seconds--a fast jeep versus plodding ground-pounders does not a captured flag make. The team as a whole seemed slow on the pick-up. For some reason, the tank and snipers across the river from field were allowed to go on and on and on, until I felt like abandoning my shock paddles to AT the stupid thing. At one point I went ADD and started running around after Santa's squad as it tried to swim across upriver to take out the snipers and tank. I was so desperate for someone to do it I abandoned my squad to help keep them alive, almost swimming after them. Then as I was dancing back and forth behind the rocks to keep the tank's attention away from them, my SL said "where's our Medic?!" I answered, "um, I'm trying to get back, but I'm held down by tank fire!" A little dishonest there, sorry. I remembered my duty and got my a$$ back. After moving in to Watermill from the captured Lumbermill (kudos to the squad that capped and held that--changed the course of the game) and apparently surprising the defenders with a somewhat organized attack, they returned a bit later with 2 squads. I got great satisfaction from tracking down and eliminating E-Male and several of his squadmates. Unfortunately, communication again was the source of our loss of the flag: the remaining enemy squad kept streaming out from behind the mill building, which I spotted and informed everyone of repeatedly as I grenaded and shot from the second story of the silo. Either people didn't understand which building I was talking about or didn't realize I had spotted their spawn point. We were eliminated, and after a few more attempts to recapture, we were repelled back to the almost deserted Farm. We managed to hold on to that I think, and moved forward to the lumbermill where we managed to hold the enemy at bay and keep them from Field, but the bleed was too much to balance, and we lost by a slim margin--13 tickets I think? Anyway, a good squad and we worked together successfully for much of the matches, but had trouble against more than one squad! Sorry I didn't write down all my squad-mates!

Awww, too bad I missed it. It sounds like the rounds were a blast, thanks for the AAR Lucky.
