AAR, PoE Monday Night 2-Jul-07
"I love it when a plan comes together"
Tonight I played a few rounds (inlcuding Nuke) on the PoE server...mostly small maps, small teams stuff. I had a good time, and it was quite interesting to play a couple rounds of Nuke in prime-time. The AAR below however is all about First Snow! ![]() First Snow, UKR, "Charlie" squad |TG-6th| eGoatBoy, |TG| Lt. Carman, DeadSideshow, (CzM)* matpat83, doomsdey, [RAGE] Riddick51PB The squad originally started out with only 4 of us, and so I intended to keep our objective focussed...some came and went, and but we never got beyond 5 guys total. Anyway, prior to spawn back at Farm I informed the squad that our primary objective would be to destroy the bridge at the Bridge CP to deter enemy armor from coming forward. I told the squad that we would keep the bridges destroyed for the entire round. That was the plan, and I got several "page-ups". We spawned out, joined the race to Bridge, and sure enough when we got there encountered resistance. I kept pressure on the guys (I had 2 spec-ops in the squad) to get the bridge down which was psycho cause it was a firefight...so covering fire, smoke, bobbing and weaving o'plenty and sure enough my SpecOps guys (Carman & Riddick) get the bridges down. We flip to defending at Bridge, with focus on keeping the bridges down. At no time during the round after the first demolition did both bridge spans simultaneously get repaired. The eastern most span got repaired a few times under covering fire by the OpFor, but it never lasted long. Eventually the OpFor then started to try to take their armor around the northern route. Our adaptation was to send one of the SpecOps guys out to run tank traps. It was very cool...the armor would get spotted out, our SpecOps guy would request that we fix it's attention...which we simply did by using small arms and rocket fire. A little maneuvering in the woods, and boom, goodbye tank. Our flag was assaulted a few times, but never turned (actually I think maybe it did once..all so much of a blur )...it was certainly on the way down a few times, but we always recovered it. At one point the OpFor snuck through and turned Gas Station and gained bleed on us. One of my squaddies asked if we should move down to counter attack..."No, we stay here and hold Bridge!". We had no CO, so I typed out our intention to the team and we held fast. Alpha and Bravo squad turned their attention to regaining our back field...which they succeeded at, and then bleed was reversed. It was a pretty fun game for me...I didn't die a whole lot (mostly thanks to DeadSideshow who was doing a great job as medic), and we had a plan that we executed against. Cheers

Re: AAR, PoE Monday Night 2-Jul-07
That was a fun round. I was a Uker too- I remember reaching that bridge at the start of the map, taking the flag, and hiding in the lower tunnel till you guys solidified those defences- You guys never lost that flag, right?
We did need to go back and recap the Gas Station at one point, and after that we turned it up on their last cappable flag. My squad-mates (York in particular) where making fun of me for being ruthless, but they attacked our back flag first, right? lol. I felt a little bad when Ikill4 said from the German team something like "even with an uncap we stink," but not that badly. We did have a few rather sweeping rounds... And then we got it handed to us on Orel a few maps later. That was kinda embarassing. Too many one-man squads on our side, I guess, but the Germans whooped us. Good games... more tonight, I hope. |

Re: AAR, PoE Monday Night 2-Jul-07
My squad was the one that met you at bridge, but you took me out and no-one could revive. We also were the ones that took Gas Station, and I was pleased at how long we held it, but the other squads on our team wouldn't go away! So we left to hit Bridge again, and the flag we had just left turned literally a minute later.
After I shot you up, Goat, I killed one or two more, my squad hot on my heels. I got to the roof over the flag, but then the time was up (or tickets, don't remember). My squadmates didn't get written down, sorry guys. I know I should be able to remember...but I don't. They followed orders well though, and never backed down. 100% output though a bit disorganized at times (look who was leading 'em!). Still, lots of fun.
