Vehicles changing sides?
Question about motion mines - Let's say I set out some motion mines, then an enemy stops their vehicle before triggering the mines and jumps out. If I hop in the vehicle and start to drive it away, will the mines attack it? In other words, does it still register as an "enemy" vehicle?
Thanks, Spiff

Re: Vehicles changing sides?
We've gotten many a free walker this way.
This can easily be prevented by having someone else in the walker/tank/FAV. In the walker's case, Usually the AA gunner (an engineer hopefully) will be the one to hop out and throw bait. In a tank, I think it would be the driver who hops out as the AI gunner watches their back. Same thing for the FAV. IMHO.

Re: Vehicles changing sides?
I have experienced some odd motion mine behaviour before. Specifically I can think of laying mines where the walker spawns at statue on belgrade. When the walker spawned in on top of the mines they immediately activated and rose off the ground even though nobody was in the walker. I hopped in and tried to drive away thinking they would just deactivate but they actually detonated and blew me up.

Re: Vehicles changing sides?
I can never understand motion mines. The minute you think you understand them, something insane happens. The thing that I find the funniest is the random mines that'll just bounce away ridiculously high/far. I've seen two go after a tank, one slowly, the other bounce over 100m away and zoom flying back in to nail the tank

Re: Vehicles changing sides?
Whenever I am going for a flag/silo in a FAV, and there are enemy motion mines, I just lay on the turbo and launch the car into them (jumping out at the last second). The motion mines will go for the FAV like a enemy is in the vehicle.

Re: Vehicles changing sides?
Ya, I've seen strange behaviour when motion mines have seemingly changed sides.
I got a motion mine kill on a gunship the other day that was cool. I had motion mines around outer bridge lock and a gunship hovered fairly low. The motion mines jumped up and killed it.

Also on a related note if you lay motion mines down and switch teams will kill yourself if you try to drive over them. |
