HD temps

After playing for about an hour, my HD temps reach about 47c. It'll cool down to 40c when idle. Running SpeedFan's internet analysis of my HD (Samsung SP2504C) stated that normal temps should be 32c. Are my temps in the red zone?

edit: after taking the cover off the case and blowing a fan inside, I got it down to 33c.

Re: HD temps

Here's what Samsung says:

«What Is the Maximum Temperature for Samsung Hard Drives?
The ideal operating temperature range for Samsung hard drives is between 40º F and 130º F (5º C to 55º C).»

Never looked it up before, but I've often wondered how hot they should run

Re: HD temps

So, that's a yes? It's too hot? Case cover back on, it's idling at 38. I'm worried about when I'm gaming. Will just fry on me?

Re: HD temps

No, not too hot. Normal operating range is between 5 to 55 Celsius. So you are within normal range.

Re: HD temps

Hmm, 47C seems a little hot, but it's within normal range. Although when you look at it, if you have adaquate cooling on your HD or airflow past your HD, your temps might not ever rise above 42C.

I know I'm running a Samsung Spinpoint with moderate airflow past it and it never rises above 40C even during intense hard drive applications.
