Tonight, July 17th(assuming I don't pick up NCAA 2008)
We have some great ideas floating around as far as procedures for Platoon leaders and Air Element. We will be testing these on the Evolution server. Approx. 20:00 Eastern. This will include a mission reset and the requirement to get organized. If you are interested in a leadership roles, please show up earlier so we can sort that out.
This will also be a good time to experiment with new TS settings. As always we will have the COOp server up and running so if you don't want to participate in this highly organized, highly tactical, and extremely immersing game style. No need to post anything about attending here, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up since this is short notice anyway.

Loyalguard, do you think you can research the TS binds by that time?
I know you have good grasp of the already bound keys with your prior research on the Key Map printout you made.

My suggestion to you Sleepdoc, is to experiment with your own settings. Since most people don't perform all roles, it might be easier to create a custom keybind set for each role you usually take. Since I know you like transport piloting, an example would be taking the official keybinds, then mapping whispers that you as a pilot could make easy use. This depends on how you use your other controls with your hands to make talking as painless on the fingers as possible. Someone playing commander might take a different approach as they would likely have a few extra whispers and have less need for ingame controls. A squad leader would only really need a command whisper and air whisper. The other whispers could be optional for them and thus freeing their keys for other things.

Re: Tonight, July 17th(assuming I don't pick up NCAA 2008)
Awesome! I've yet to play the Evo mission with a Platoon Leader, so I'm really looking forward to this. I'm not sure what time I'll be able to get on tonight, but I'll be squad leading when I do make it on.
Also - I suggest everyone grab the Chammy Sound Mod before tonight's action. It truely takes the game to another level. |

Re: Tonight, July 17th(assuming I don't pick up NCAA 2008)
The main point is to have a simple minimum set of keybinds that can serve our need. This cannot encompass every thinkable keybind situation that is a nice to have feature.
This means that players here as they grow more comfortable with TS most likely will add to this "base-set" and add nice-to-have features that provides a solution to individual needs. If we, when we start to use the new bindings, discover a hole in the setup we will add to the existing template as long as it is a problem that affects all players.

Everyone in this test needs to take a active role in this test.
My role is to be the simplicity supervisor. It's important.

Re: Tonight, July 17th(assuming I don't pick up NCAA 2008)
Exactly what Panzer said. We have the stock keybinds either the TG ones or Koala's available. Both are great starting points. The kinds of additions we have been discussing, In my opinion need to be personal to have the best affect on the end user. Do what is comfortable to your hands and helps you organize better. The only reason to have a standard set is to walk people through the simple uses. Well the simple uses(switching channel, etc) are covered. The advanced uses are best done per individual where the individual can maximize his/her effectiveness. These advanced uses would still be over most new comers head anyway to worry about a standard set. However, I'm sure more than a few people will be willing to share their keybinds.
I use a mouse button for TS. I have since I started using TS many years ago. Many people don't use a mouse button, but keyboard keys. I find these all annoying compared to my mouse button, but most use their mouse buttons for in game features. *edit* Remember, only 6 or 7 guys at most are every going to need an advanced keybind setup during any session. The PL, the SL's and Air/Armor leaders. The rest have no reason to be speaking a crossed squads or channels.
