Hmm i guess that's nice to an extent. Wouldn't that nerf several maps on the NS expansion pack then?

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
Well, if thats the case, since you no longer will have the ability to avoid being beacon-camped, i suggest we take the initiative to amend the rules to prevent beacon camping. Some will argue that you dont have to spawn on the beacon as an alternative to being camped, and yes, most people will know that. But for those that dont, it's detrimental to the style of play that we promote here.

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
This is all speculation until we see the actual patch, who knows what we will see once it is out. We should hold this conversation until the patch is released.

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
Hey guys, I'm kinda new around here and I'd like some clarification on this pod surfing business.
Specifically, what are the rules on TG regarding the following situation: SL places beacon, I spawn in the pod and spin my mouse. This moves the pod and makes me land somewhere else than I would were I not moving my mouse. (ie. farther away from the beacon.) Now, so long as I don't land on a roof, is this illegal or looked down upon on TG? If so, can you please explain why? If not, what is the general attitude of the people? Will it be looked down upon as a "cheap" tactic? I'm fairly certain I didn't come across pod surfing in the primer and related newbie reading material but I could be wrong.

1. You can pod spin/steer to avoid a camped beacon. 2. You can NOT pod spin/steer for tactical reasons.

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
This is not an official press release. This is a post in total 2142 forums by a guy that is known to be employed by dice. This is just some guy from dice shooting the breeze on some forums.

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
Sometimes, these things are just gossip. I doubt "all" pod steering will be eliminated. Just don't expect people to surf all the way from the PAC UCB on Berlin to the EU Outpost.

Re: New for 1.4 -> NO MORE PODSURFING
Ooooooh. My bad then. I was thinking it was from a PR or Community Relations person. I'm a communications/ new media major, so let's just say I notice stuff like that.
I don't expect somebody on a forum to use proper grammar-- I know I often don't (on a forum). So, I'll edit my post. |
