Conquest Server Size

I remember reading somewhere the Conquest server is made for 64 people, but we are running it at 52. Any chance of bumping that up now that the server lag issues are taken care of?

They are gone, arent they? I havent experienced server lag in a while...

i think we'll be trying a stress test this weekend to see how it goes before our scrimmage with MIA and DIG, but I don't think that will be a regular thing.

The size isn't picked because of the lag; it's picked because of the maps. Having a pub server filled with 64 players just ends up being cramped. Either we only use 64 player maps that people generally dislike, or we wildly overpopulate maps that aren't intended to handle it.

Also, in terms of making sure we have enough supporting members to support the server, 52 players works better as it makes the reserved spot more worthwhile for people to purchase... which is possibly why you're advocating changing it in the first place.

As soon as I get outta this financial rut I am in, I am buying a reserved slot. (but yes, I would like it as well to get in easier, )

On the topic of being cramped, whats wrong with that? I personally would like to see the small version of Verdun on the server rotation, the one that focuses only on church. I think that would rock with the numbers we have. Absolute chaos ftw.

As Zoraster mentioned, the decision to go with 52 is based on the fact that the gameplay is just better with the lower count, for all the reasons mentioned.

With BF2, I set up a server for me and my friends where we played with 256 bots on a 16 player map. Absolutely crazy.

With BF1942, we set up a server with 128 bots and had them all join the opposite team of a squad of 12 of us, and we attempted to hold them off on assault maps.

Oh you have no idea. This was back in my HS days, we had like 12 or 16 of us over at one time, doing normandy beach just us against the hundreds.

Most maps on 2142 are only meant for 32 players. Camp Gibraltar 64 is no different then 32, which is just I giant mess of grenade spamming. I find the game better with less people. Unless the map sizes were like the new Road To Tampa map.

Yea, a bunch of noobs running around would cause me to find a new home. Camp G is already crowded. The large vehicles are not so bad.

i find that for pub play (and ours is still a pub, even if it is the very best of ones), the maps are generally optimal at about 10-15 players more than are listed.

I'm up for a 64 player night! The maps are bigger and a bit different to the size we run now. Just for fun!

64 player night, huh? Sounds like it would be fun. Would the admins changes the maps in the rotation? Make them all the big vehicle maps generally reserved for titan, just play them as conquest? Because as much fun as 64 player Gibralter sounds... I think it would be more fun to do a 64 player Minsk, Suez, Verdun, or maybe some of the NS maps. I miss those ever since the end of frosty fridays. Though I definitely love having a TG titan server. *chuckle* Sorry, I'm rambling... I'll stop now.

The only good 64 player maps are the vehicle maps since they were designed for 64 players. Infantry maps with 64 players is just a wall of explosions at a choke point.
