Re: locking squads?
Generally what happens is:
1) In-house squad creates a squad (3RDSFD) and locks it, and invites all 3rd, and occasionally never unlocks it. 2) See 1, but after they invite who they want, they unlock it. This is typically the norm. 3) People know you and you get invited to a squad. Yay! |

Re: Locking Squads?
We typically do the same thing, lock the squad at the beginning to get our other members in and unlock after we have everyone. somtimes someone is dragging behind and we hold a spot for them, other times we just plain forget to unlock after invites go out. Always feel free to join if we have a spot open. What typically happens is someone joins in an empty slot or 2 and if they work well with us they end up getting invited to the squad in the following rounds as well. Great way to learn about the different in house squads. My first TG experience was with the 7th and I loved it, hooked me with TG for life...Thanks again Fehmart. Welcome to the servers 2 para, join us anytime...Usually crazy 8's or NUTS is our squad name.

Re: Locking Squads?
If I am SLing it will either be a "Learn TG" squad where it is open to all or it will be a "3rd SFD" squad where I will invite 3rd members first, then friends of the 3rd second, and finally unlock it for anyone else who wants to join. If it remains locked then usually what it means is either we are practising a specific technique or (more likely) the SL just forgot to unlock it.

Re: Locking Squads?
Yea sometimes, you are waiting for a guy, then he joins while you are in the fight and just forget about unlocking the squad. I am sure I speak for all of the IHS's when I say we like playing with new guys, keeps the game interesting.

Re: Locking Squads?
Asking for invites is always a good way to go as well. I generally lock my squad to invite people I had in it previously and open it once they all are in.
If I have the room I'd be glad to invite someone who wants in, it sure beats running the chance of getting someone who just needs a squad and doesn't want to really be apart of it. Cheers

Re: Locking Squads?
Another idea is to come hang out with us in our TS channel. I can't speak for the others, but the 3rd is always happy to have friends hang out and chat with us between rounds, and if you ask for an invite you'll probably get one during our locked squad phase. Just be a polite guest, and leave if asked because we're planning a scrim or something.

Re: Locking Squads?
Usually if it's a locked squad where it is comprised of only one IHS, the squad is probably trying to work on tactics or testing "battle plans".

Re: Locking Squads?
Try using TeamSpeak Overlay, it tells you when someone is talking on TramSpeak. I agree, the disembodied voice does sometimes get confusing.

Re: Locking Squads?
I don't know about anyone else, but I find it fairly easy to tell the difference between someone talking on Teamspeak versus in-game Voip. The TS comes through much clearer than in-game Voip.

Re: Locking Squads?
Aye, that it does. And usually I can expect who would be in a TS channel and know who's playing vs. who's talking on TS.
