Semi-macro shots
spider!
![]() Flower, cropped 30% in size ![]() Same flower at 100% viewing size, just the center. ![]() Oh, and for giggles, the flower picture was taken in the MIDDLE of my sloppy neighbor's yard....yeah, it's been a while since they've mowed. I'm going to take it and plant it in my yard! |

Re: Semi-macro shots
HAHA.. Go do it one day.. dig it up and leave the hole - then plant it conspicuously in your yard!
That tight flower shot is nice - perfection if the debris were blown out if you could do it without disturbing the patterns.

Re: Semi-macro shots
You can fix up that picture a little bit by doing what florists call 'picking the nose'. What you do is pinch the stamin gently about a quarter of the way down under the pollen cap and slide your fingers gently toward the pollen cap. The cap should come right off, leaving a nice 'whisker' and the pollen caps won't detract from the vibrance of the petals.
You have to be careful though because the pollen may come off the cap and get on the petals. The sooner you do it after the lilly opens, the easier it is to get the pollen cap off without spreading the pollen over the petals - that lilly looks like it'd be a good one to practice on and has already been repollenated. Just an old photo trick I remembered.

Re: Semi-macro shots
Given the purpose of those plant parts and the way you are handling them, "picking the nose" isn't the analogy that comes to my mind.
