Squads

Why did you change squads formation on thr tg server. Now you have to form new squads after every round?
Also I know there are some problems with some of the new maps but on sat from 8 till 10 pm just old maps. are new maps in the rotation?

Re: Squads

We turned on side switching a couple days ago. Partly to force players to switch the assaulting/defending roles in these US maps(Berezan and Crimea are back to back in one part of the rotation) but also just for a something new since the side switching has worked well on our other servers.

New maps are in although some of them just don't work well with a lot of people. Blue Nile is a 32 player map, Risen is not fun once you get over about 40 people and Olesko 64 player is just a long fragfest with lots of spawn camping. Crimea and Berezan are in heavy rotation, Acorn is in the rotation, Odessa is in and we will play it even more if they can tackle the lag issue for most players. Olesko and Blue Nile get played when the server isn't full. So basically...for our 64 player server we didn't get as many new maps that work for our server as we thought we would. We play the new ones a good amount but most of the 1.15 maps still see play to mantain variety and avoid quick burnout on the new content. There will be times in the rotation where you'll play 2-3 1.15 maps in a row.

Re: Squads

Thanks for reply. Most servers that use side switching play two rounds per map.Is the tg server going to that format.
Understand about the maps I just wanted to play them against the pubs.
As always great server and admins.

Re: Squads

Two maps per round? Then I'd really get burned out on all the new maps. So to answer that question, no.

Re: Squads

Our desire to play longer rounds makes two rounds on each map undesirable. I've found the re-forming of squads between rounds to be quite good, though I find the team changes confusing in terms of knowing which flags are mine and adjusting to the weapons I have if I am keeping the same role.

Re: Squads

I do wish it would let you carry over when it does the full team switch but with TG it is not so bad because you have a nice long start time so you can get organzied and talk some trash.

Re: Squads

but whats worse is the 1 or 2 man squads. It seems to be happening more and more on the server

Re: Squads

Probably just new people. Invite them to your squad, or tell them to join up with someone else. Don't be shy.
