Command : Revisited

I've been spending some time in the CO chair as of late and while I wish there were more actions that a CO can take - it is still a very viable and valuable position.

Aside from the few actions a CO can take, the most frustrating thing is that I believe many new members of TG and even some old-timers have forgotten how to communicate with their CO.

SITREPS are paramount to the success of the team in PoE. Soldiers on the field MUST communicate what is happening around them because chances are; he's given you an assignment and then moved on to eye-ball another squad's progress from above. Without scan or UAV support, unless the CO is looking directly at you from above, he can't tell what the battlefield conditions are in your area.

I know from me anyway, you hear me ask your squad to form a particular formation in an area.. while you might not understand the reason at first but it is probably because I (or other CO) has caught a glimpse of something about to happen and needs eyes and ears in the area - please try your best to do it and maintain the requested formation without bunching up as much as possible.

Last night alone, I managed three rounds. The first was chaos - nobody was communicating or following orders. The second was fantastic as SL's started communicating but we still lost it in the end because ONE squad wouldn't listen to their squad leader.. just one squad cost it all for the whole team. Finally, by the third - everyone was getting on the same page. Requests for supply drops were coming in, smoke cover, eyeballs overhead and oh yeah - SITREPS! That was a nice way to end the evening.

SO.. that being my $.02 - if you think you might want to CO (or CO again if you've been away for awhile).. take a few minutes to review the various CO 'tip' threads in the forums - hopefully you'll enjoy doing it again - or at least appreciate it when another player does.

Re: Command : Revisited

I was one of the SL's while you were commanding P8riot, and I thought you did a great job coordinating everybody and reminding us to give sit reps. I especially liked the times when you were able to send us reinforcements just in time--that's a way higher level of play and there's no reason TG shouldn't be able to have it.

So thanks for filling the seat!

Thanks Cheesy.

Tuesday night I had real mixed results. It was harder to move reinforcements around and everyone had a bad tendancy to let themselves get contained in an area they couldn't get out of.

There was also a rogue squad once again that repeatedly attacked a flag I asked to be left alone - so they just repeatedly died. Once again.. I can honestly say - that one full squad that wouldn't listen - cost the team win

Sometimes when CO you see a hotly contested flag that the other team thinks is important - important enough to tie up resources defending - when it's really not that important. So to me, they can have it and I can allocate smaller forces to take CP's left vulnerable.

Likely I'll keep pounding my head on the rock because it is worth it when COing and you finally get everyone on the same page for a win.

I think that's an important point about flags being battled over when they aren't that important, especially with new people on the server. "Flag frenzy", "attack of the blueberries", whatever - its like lemmings jumping over a cliff sometimes, people just get tunnel mode, when the flag isn't necessary for a win, it just ends up draining tickets.

You did a great job that night. I'm glad people are getting back in the chair on the new release.

Glad to see some good CO's showing up. The new maps are that much better when you have a good CO, especially Crimea and Berezan.

Oh man, you have no idea how much that irritates me. I can't stand it when they kept pushing and come close to losing or actually end up losing.

Re: Command : Revisited

PHsCheesh.. I got schooled the other night. My apologies for not knowing a few things - or forgetting I knew.

Last night I was moving squads around ridiculously.. I thought I was on the right track - but then I found out later that bleed indicators don't show in the command screen

So I know last it was ME that shanked the round. We had GREAT squads and good teamplay last night. Sorry I wasn't up to snuff for it - but now I know better.

Thanks for putting up with it guys (and girl).

Re: Command : Revisited

My ISP is still lagging me badly(200ping) so until that changes expect a lot of rounds with me as CO until this gets fixed. Tonight in particular if I'm not on your team then you better get a CO.
