finally some quiet
just played a round of OGT as "SF" with xcannonx (sp?)
basically he was SL and SF kit and I spawned SF on him. we went south along the west of brit main and killed a lonewolf chinese sniper. i grab his kit we sneak to their main and are careful not to fire unless in self-defense. when it seems clear sl blows the command post (well, sorta sets it on fire) then goes to train to look for a bunker. i wait around for 7 min finally, theire cmdr notices he cant place assetts, so he sends an engineer to repair it. i plink him as hes repairing (xcannon told me this was within rules) we go on recon for a while, then we return to blow a new command post and the transport chopper. Brits are losing pretty badly, so we head north to cross the river. i spot a RP on the opposite bank, SL goes to knife it while i cover and spot. it goes down, but so does SL. time for me to be that lonewolf that everyone in PR hates for the rest of the round i become the perfect sniper...except without a spotter. Chinese are shooting from my side of the river. i knife their rally. shoot only targets facing away, still, and 100m+. i reposition constantly. at one point, an officer/SL was below me only ~150m lying besides a tree on the bank. i was above him. i plink him, plink the medic, plink the second medic. the only smart guy in his squad takes on the other side of the tree. i wait for 40 sec. he pops his head out. he should of popped smoke. At this point i was 8-0 and i had not been spotted, but there was someone looking for me. i see him looking in my general direction with a nade in hand. he takes cover, but i reposition and the grenade missed. then, he passes 2 m in front of me...twice. i hear a cmdr truck coming north from chinese main (wtf?) i spot it (80m) and see an officer driving it. he stops for a sec, so i knew he was probably their CO looking at the com screen. i plink him. 30+ seconds later, he spawns again as engy and drives for 10 seconds. he thinks he's safe, so takes another look at his screen. he get's plinked. I finally decide to head east and "escape" but i run into (probably same guy looking for me earlier) a rifleman that i kill with the handgun before he shoots me. the only time that im spotted. 11-0 and best sniper. dont know why i typed this story that probably bores most of you...it's just that OGT has only ever before been a "grunt-frontline-infantry" map for me, and the way i played this round just seemed really new and broke up the monotony, even though i probably could of better helped my team as a grunt... thnx to xcannon |

Re: finally some quiet
So that's what you two were up to... o_O Kept seeing you south of the river and got a bit mad... but at least you weren't keeping the seats back in main warm. OGT has some great small squad potential, but it's hard to break past whatever lines have developed.
Lone wolfs can create a lot of chaos with so many places to hide. I did something similar one time, crossing the river undetected, taking out a spawn and knifing a spotter, who just happened to be heavy AT. Pistoled another guy coming from tunnel when I noticed a Bunker and Command Post in there and proceeded to blow them up, rearming at their own jeep that had been left there. Then I blew up the jeep for good measure and went off armor hunting. There wasn't anything really memorable after that, but it was a lot of fun. |

Re: finally some quiet
I will admit I broke the rules there when I laid some slams on the chopper. No one was using the chopper. Won't happen again.
Anyway I was bored playing the conventional grunt way at the time so I decided to do some spec ops work. Normally spec ops are designed to infiltrate deep behind enemy lines to cause damage that normally require several squads to accomplish. In the process we ended up destroying rally points and annoying the enemy commander. |
