Do's and Don'ts of the Speeder
![]() Type 32 Hachimoto Fast Attack Vehicle aka Assault Speeder Do: As the driver stay mobile and try to keep your front pointed towards anything that wants to kill you. You have open sides so angling towards the side will get you killed. Don't: Stop and let your side/rear point towards any infantry or possible attack vector. Small arms fire can easily kill you through those big openings in the speeder. Do: Hold steady and point the front of your speeder towards any enemy armor so you can launch a TV missile. If you need to move, and I suggest you do, strafe side to side while going backwards or forwards and keep the front facing the armor so you take return fire on the shielded front while still keeping the armor in your missile 'sights'. Once the missile is off beat a fast retreat and don't wait to see the results. He who fires and runs away, lives to fire again another day. Don't: Open fire with the driver controlled cannons. Seriously. Its like the PAC Walker main guns in that it does NOTHING against armor except paint a huge "Look at me! I'm in a floating paper turret and I'm not using my AV weapons" over your head. Either let your gunner launch their rocket or switch to the gunner seat after setting up and fire the missile yourself. Do: Use the mortar on enemy infantry and the TV missile on enemy armor. Both are extremely effective against their choosen targets. The TV missile is extremely so doing 60 damage against a walker's head, 100 damage against a walker's lower body/back, and 60 damage against the Goliath. Don't: Get stuck on using the mortar and fire it rapidly against everything. You can kill infantry in one shot so fire one shot at a time and readjust if you miss. Firing one shot at a time means you can sustain a barrage for longer than if you held down the trigger and fired 6 shells at the same piece of real estate. Also don't fire the mortar at armor since it works just like the APC mortar in that it does diddly squat against it. Its worse than the driver's cannons for giving away your position and holding up a "Shoot me now" sign. If you want to fire the mortar at armor then just get out and run up to them before jumping up and down in their sights. You'll accomplish the same thing except you won't get your driver killed in the process. Do: Avoid motion mines or get out and disable them with the defuser/Zeller/motion mine bait before driving anywhere near them. If you do pick up a motion mine then try to run it into something so you lose it or spin around and take the mine on the front armor as you slide backwards. Don't: Try to skirt or run through a mine field like a FAV. Those fancy anti-grav engines gives you such a large signature that you will pick them up from a greater distance and NEVER outrun motion mines regardless of the fact that you move faster and manuver better than the standard 3 seat FAV. If you keep running eventually the mines will catch up as they gain speed and blow you away unless you spin around to catch them on your front. Anything I missed?

Very nice post.....The only thing I see is that, you must watch where you are going as they do not take collisions very well.

Aye, the Hachi is not as fast as the FAV.
Do: Try and do as many awesome stunts as you can. Jump off stuff every chance you get. Don't: Crash into stuff, it hurts. If you get stuck in an position, the game will start damaging your incredibly fast.

The reason IMO of why the Hachi seems faster is that it can strafe, and do that extremely quickly, while the FAV is always going straight. The Hachi, like the PAC tak, can whip around corners much faster than wheeled counterparts.

Aye, if you know what you're doing, you can completely change directions without losing any/much speed at all.

Don't: Forget to run over him again returning to your original posistion.

Sometimes I wish that the Hachi's were on some of the vanilla maps. They'd be incredibly fun on Shuihia or Verdun or similiar maps. Hell, imagine Camp G with Hachis! The one thing that the Hachi lacks is the ability to teabag. Thats why I love the gunship, vehicular teabagging!

The Hatchi is slower I think, however it does accelerate much faster.
Don't: Run headlong into a Goliath at high speed because you were too busy looking at your SL map. Gunner was not pleased.

Also watch out for low clearance porch roofs, they will scrape your gunner off…fatally.

Ugh...the speeder would dominate vanilla maps with its TV Missile and high mobility. Those things already can one shot tanks, walkers, and aircraft. They 2 shot APCs and 4 shot goliaths. Maybe on infantry heavy maps, but then you have to deal with the mortar. They're good on NS maps because of the insane amount of armor present.
I've out run FAVs before over rough terrain because the speeder won't bounce and lose speed as much, but I've never outrun one over blacktop or hard concrete because of the straight aways. On that note the driver guns seem to be designed for the purpose of hunting down FAVs in chases since they rip them apart with a few bursts of fire. You can also take down aircraft by aiming up and they do as much damage as the walker AA seat without the ROF. I once picked up a MM and dragged it all the way across the map by using the boost on straight shots and jumping/sliding around every corner possible before running it into an enemy walker I zipped under. Nice way to get a 'teamkill' for the other side. Those things will NEVER give up unless you drag it into something else and since they pick up speed the longer they are active you have a hell of a time getting away. With enough speed they'll kill you with their momentum if you get out of the speeder too. -.-

to me at least the hachi is designed to be the anti-Goliath as some people remember Lyra made a video a while ago about this. the TV missiles destroy the panels very effectively, heck I've even gotten a two-for-one shot before on the back corner. so kids be safe in those thing, and don't forget to get you daily hachi roadkill
