need info on joining a squad

im gitting kicked off everytime i play due to not being in a squad ! it wont let me make my own squad and it wont let me join one unless someone sends a invite.
is this how this game works ? unless someone invites you to a squad your no playing in the game?

INSERT - Creates a squad
CAPS LOCK - Shows all squads
CREATE BUTTON - Creates a squad
JOIN BUTTON - On unlocked/unfull squad, allows you to join

Which of those isnt working for you?

Also, there are some strange bugs that might require you to be alive to join/create a squad, and sometimes your squad might persist from round to round, which will require you to reconnect.

Very, very rarely I have had to spawn in and then join a squad. Try that.

You can't join a squad if you are dead. Are you waiting until you die to join a squad?

you can join a squad at the start of the game if you havent spawned yet.
