BF2142 has never sounded so good.
I've been playing BF on a crappy $15 headset from Walmart.
Yesterday I got my speakers in... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836121120 and wow, the game sounds 100% better. EMP 'nades have bass, you can feel the Zeller/Pilum when they fire and since its 5.1 you can actually use your ears to locate people. I'm sure many of you already knew this, but its exciting for me! :P

Well, i think your neighbours wouldnt realy like that, btw i use a $5 headset and the sound is perfect, i always hear people talking about bad sound qaulity, but i dont think cheap means weak.

Oh the $15 headset I have isn't bad (I still use it for the mic).
But these are better. Its really like the difference between a normal TV and an HDTV. Normal tv is good, but you don't really know what your missing till you watch something in HD.

Re: BF2142 has never sounded so good.
Hopefully you have active noice cancelling. It gets tiresome fast when one hears their own voice being echo'd through when another person speaks.
Headsets are great for in game voip because the mic will not loop output back into the system. Othewise, we may need to have an intervention.

Yup my soundcard does this. Not that it would be a problem... BF2142 doesn't seem to use the correct input device so I can't talk in game. TS works fine, but the game itself doesn't.

Re: BF2142 has never sounded so good.
Playing games with good sound really can make things come more alive. Only thing I wish I could get would be combine the power of a sub with the clarity of nice headphones. I know I could get a more expensive pair for bass, but wouldn't be as portable. Feeling the OS makes it that much more destructive.

I agree. It took me months to convince Melissa to let me get an HDTV. I got a Sony Wega 42' rear projection. Now even she says she looks on the HD channels before looking for something else to watch and the TV I got is just a budget HD and certainly not the best out there. <3 HDTV

9,95 Euro Headset with mic. Suprisingly good sound quality compared to price.
I counted that my knife deaths went down about 25% when i changed to these. I also use them for finding my enemies with the gunship.

Re: BF2142 has never sounded so good.
well I run a 7.1 system pretty loud and I have yet to have someone tell me that I have feedback or an echo. Just make sure you run push to talk on ts, I could never find a happy medium for voice activation. The only thing I don't like about my system is under heavy fire or an orbital, I won't hear people very well.

Just think of it as a side effect like the screen blur/deafness after a close fragging, or an emp hit.

Re: BF2142 has never sounded so good.
Personally, if i'm looking for better sound quality, i use the headsets that i stole from my sister that came with a electric guitar starter kit that my parents got her from Sam's club (use it for music too). If i want to feel the sound while playing, i'll use my 70-watt(i'm sure it's higher) logitech speakers that i got with my laptop and turn up the sub some. and for really tactical stuff, i use my gaming headsets with the nice mic. It's not top sound quality, but it has a nice mic.

Re: BF2142 has never sounded so good.
I'm wondering if it's possible to split the audio and have the sound play on a surround sound system, and have a separate channel go to your headphones for voip.
