Quake Wars Instructions

I fooled around with the strogg tonight on the demo briefly. Very confusing. I'll need to mess around with the different kits more. Is there a "how to" guide for each of the classes? Weapons usage?

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

as the technician on the strogg, you can go up to a fallen GDF soldier and use your "tool" on them to make them spawn hosts. Now all anyone on your team needs to do (including yourself) is go over to the spawn host and hit your "use" key. Now, when you die, youll be able tos pawn immediately instead of waiting. VERY helpful.

They are only destroyed by the GDF medic with his shock paddles.

Keep playin it norcal...especially with bots and try to use each class on both sides and pay attention tot he top of the screen for a little "how to" with each weapon and tool.

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

Some good rounds tonight and picked up a bit of info. It's gonna take alittle learning curve for me. I need some schooling on the basics. Fun time though.

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

It has potential for a lot of teamwork. I singlehandedly held back the GDF team for at least 10min in the Strogg desecrater tank (in siege mode). Sure, I had to keep hopping out and repairing myself since nobody got the hint that I was playing smart with the vehicle rather than driving off mindlessly.

Ideally, We should have had a engineer guy a short distance away with the drone repair tool locked onto me, and releasing it to continuously to repair me when I needed it. Then keep a steady gunner in the turret on top and we would have been unstoppable. Heh, it was pretty fun watching them toss EMP grenades at us which shorted out the tanks movement, but we were still cleaning their team out with the main cannon while the guy in the turret cleaned up.

A little teamspeak and coordination would go a long way. Right now its a little too deathmatchy with people crashing vehicles all over the place.

Yeah we ended up with 6-8 TG guys on a server last night and, despite that learning curve, had a lot of fun. There's plenty of room for support type roles, and the fireteam structure worked rather well from what I could tell. It's definitely a fun demo, though I'm still on the fence as to whether I'll buy the full game. Regardless, given some other comments I've seen about the game, I was pleasantly surprised at the tactical possibilities the game allows.

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

I'm on the fence also, but with a couple other games I want coming out, including TF2, this one probably will get pushed unless it sees a large community of TG people.

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

Well the repair drone requires stryoant when deployed and it eats it up pretty heavily. That wouldn't work unless you had a tech handing out refills. You also would've been screwed if a Field-Op got wise and just dropped a hammer or arty on your head.

The game feels a lot like RTCW:ET except with vehicles and a little more action and less tactics. Cover is lacking all over the place and is crucial when I can snipe across the map with a scoped assault rifle on burst.

Talking Re: Quake Wars Instructions

anyone tried the strogg sniper???? the exploding guided drone he uses is frickin' awesome....I never laughed so hard in a long time!!! I like to deploy it and let it go through the tunnel base corridors to find 2 or 3 GDF and then BOOM! or fly it at guys on the ATV's and blow them right off of it....try it it's a blast!!!!

Re: Quake Wars Instructions

I've gotten pretty good at whipping out the old pistol and skeet shooting those things out of the air. Much saddness from wanna be remote demo users.

The GDF 3rd eye cam, by comparison, is so weak its laughable though. Stationary camera with a long and loud charge timer to explosion FTL. Now if they added a small pistol caliber weapon to the damn thing it'd be worth throwing around a corner or up on a ceiling for overwatch. As it stands I use it like an extra grenade without the hacking ability to take out deployables when someone goes to repair it.
