Radio chatter question

Can anyone explain to me what the numbers and letters in the radio chatter mean. Like when someone talks you will see 1-1-A 1: and then what they are saying.

I know it tells you who they are but not sure what each number and letter represents, etc.

Basically it is telling you who is talking. The numbers are not that all important, they are just the identifier for a specific element of the team.

BigC is correct (as usual!). The first number/letter combination is the "group" and the last number is the "unit" (player number) in that "group".

Someone in the military can verify but to be more realistic I think BIS should have reversed the sequence. I believe a proper designation would be A-1-1 or B-2-3, etc. The first letter is the company, the first number the platoon in that company, and the second number the squad in that platoon. So A-1-1 would be: Alpha Company, 1st Platoon, Squad 1.

But again as BigC states, it is not really important for the sake of gameplay.

Yeah, the order is a bit confusing. Not sure what they were trying to go for. A-1-2 or something of the sort would've made instant sense to me. As it is now...? Sqd 1, 1st PLT, Alpha Co? I dunno.

As others have said, it's completely unimportant.
