Jabal Al Burj - Monday Night PR ~11pm EDT
Jabal Al Burj, MEC - "DEVILED"
|TG-6th|eGoatBoy, |TG-6th|snoogums, TurkishDelight, [TG] IMI-50AE, AFsoccer, xSCEADUx, Frogger1968 What a comeback for the MEC! Our squad, and much of the team, seemed to get a shaky rollout...should not have been that big of a deal, but it turned out to be. I had our squad start off in an APC, which we rolled into City with to cap. I explained to the squad that we would then be going to Bridge, but through East Beach (which had been capped USMC) first to run some interference there. I should have listened to the squad and went straight to Bridge We roll into East Beach to find it vacated, however now the USMC had capped Dam ...and Bridge had been neutral and in play for awhile w/out any serious MEC presence. Drop a mine in East Beach as a going away gift for the USMC then we proceed up to Bridge...getting there just after it was capped by the USMC.At this point Factory and City were in play and all the MEC forces were south...those two CPs were undefended. It really started to look like we were about to get wiped off the map. I was killed in the fight at Bridge, so I spawned back at Al Burj and grabbed an Vodnik...telling the squad we needed to retreat and defend Factory. I rolled into factory to find an enemy APC there...I was toast. Err, uhhh, well..."Defend City!". Now I really thought we were hosed. We pulled back to City and put up a defense there. We got dug in there just in time. Our squad did a bang up job of defending the flag against USMC attacks...which included an APC as well as plenty of dismounted infantry. We held it, the rest of the team recaptured Factory, and now the MEC were back in business! The team went forward, and I held 3 of our squad back to defend at Factory and City while the assaults on Bridge and Dam were underway. There was a lengthy and uncomfortable stretch of time where we had 1 squaddie each close to those two defended flags...early warning more then serious defense I suppose. I had some luck on the AA gun at City and took down two blackhawks which presumably were coming to take those back flags away from us. Before long we were contesting East Beach and West Beach. I had the squad at one point drive through the fight at Dam ignoring the battle there as West Beach was in play. We got down to West Beach w/out any real incident and neutralized the flag. Things looked peachy until, what appears to be, a lone USMC H-AT trooper came through and knifed a bunch of us. It was embarrassing but he really got a good one us. This happened just after |TG-6th|snoogums had left the squad to become CO so that we could start fortifying our position. Pushed off West Beach, we regrouped at East Beach, and |TG-6th|snoogums went to work building defenses. A couple bunkers, and a firebase just east of Bridge and the MEC were dug in. Kudos to AFsoccer for suggesting the AA gun up at the firebase...it was effective. Anyway, a huge shoutout to my squad and the MEC team...it was a very cool back & forth battle with much suspense and tension. The MEC came from behind to win 185 - 0, but the USMC had come so close to pushing the MEC off the map... Cheers, ![]() |

Re: Jabal Al Burj - Monday Night PR ~11pm EDT
I find USMC usually do well initially on Jabal, but they are always too quick to get in the chopper and get to the next point.
If USMC can take the bridge, make a strong defense there, as those hills overlook the entire factory/city area, and are key to holding the whole region. Once you get factory and establish yourselves there, its still a good idea to keep troops in the hills around bridge, as you can observe MEC reinforcements from these hills... good AAR was enjoyable to read jabal is still my favorite map even after all this time ! |
