Pentium D is not the way to go. That alone rules out that system. Don't be afraid to see what AMD has to offer; they might offer a system that's well within your budget, and pretty much anything outperforms the Pentium D, so don't worry about that.

Re: Im Building a comp for CSS

Or you could go with a Pentium E2*** series, they Overclock very well on just the stock cooler, and can out-perform a X6850 when OC'd to 3.6Ghz (On stock cooling non-the-less).

Take a look at this:

Re: Im Building a comp for CSS

I currently have a Pentium 4 3.0 ghz 2mb cache Ebay around $50, ATI x1800xt Ebay around $250 to $300 , 2 x 1gb Kingston Value Memory Ebay around $150. I didnt build my computer I have a gateway I upgraded but you dont need alot to run CSS I run it and HL2 with everything maxed out at a high resolution and it runs flawless.

As for the Video card go with something a lil newer than the 1650 my bro has it and it just doesnt preforme like my 1800 also make sure the card has 512 memory it makes a big difference and the crossfire version cost more than the non crossfire unless you intend to buy 2 cards and run crossfire thies no point in getting it it doesnt run any faster than the non crossfire.
