No locked squads now?
I must have missed the announcement, but when did this become a server rule? Randomly last night, Eroak kicked me for having a locked squad. It was a normal squad, not a gunship or APC, or IHS squad. Me and a friend (he is also TG, but decently new) play together often. I lock the squad, so we can play together, and have conversation without having to worry about anyone else.
I am wondering, since when and why is this illegal? We werent trying to exclude people, and there were other open not full squads at the time, and we were the only locked squad on the team, except for the Admin squad. I'd just like this explained for me.

Re: No locked squads now?
I would think you will need to bring this up directly with Eroak through PM.

If you honestly don't know, I think the rule is there to discourage TG-only elitism and to make us spread our way to the random pubbies. There's nothing like having a fella ask how to join TG after playing in your squad for a couple of rounds.

If your running just a 2 or 3 man regurlar squad it hinders your ability to be a force on the map. There is also a set number of squads allowed. Even with running a sniper squad. Having a 2 person squad doesn't promote teamplay, which is what we are all about. To solve your problem I suggest Teamspeak or someother chat service. Even in our Teamspeak you can create a temporary channel that you and your friend can join and joke about what is going in there outside of the squad communications. In this way, you can join a normal squad and still have your private time. Here the link for setting up Teamspeak, it is simple and very easy to use. You do not have to anything special to use it in game, just push a button to talk or just set the voice activation. Hope this helps! See you on the battlefield!

Re: No locked squads now?
Indeed this is a PM issue with Eroak - From what I know of the do's and dont's you are able to lock a squad if it's "task" specific (Airship Squad/Asset Destroyer) or if it's an IHS "Practicing Tactics" squad (PTSquad).
If you just want to play on your own with a friend it's recommended that you "take it outside" the server to the publics because TG is squad friendly for everyone - that means making fewer squads with higher member counts. This in turn is easier for the CO to command and promotes tactics instead of lonewolfing - this is the TG way. I've played with you before Icehawk and you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, just remember that there is a reason for EVERYTHING that happens and all it requires is a polite question in the right place. See you on the battlefield mate. (EDIT) - Mach got there just before me ![]()

Re: No locked squads now?
I didnt mean to single out Eroak in my first post, i just said that because i was wondering if he was the only person doing this, since it is new to me. So sorry for that.
As to Teamspeak, my computer has issues with it. It just doesnt seem to like to work at the same time as VOiP is enabled. With any game that has built in VoIP support, so i havent really used it much. And also, me and him dont always have locked squads (50% of time maybe), so we really arent trying to exclude people, or be elitists or anything. Quote:
Anyway, just my $.02

Re: No locked squads now?
I see what your saying, I do really, but it can also be done in a full squad. I often break my squad up into two fire teams, so to speak. Depending on the level of resistance I think there will be at a flag or level of an assualt we are holding off. I may take one or two guys with me to quickly hit a flag while my other 3 or 4 guys defend the current one. So there is really nothing wrong with that, just how you go about it. Try some of the other chat services though, or pm me or an admin for help with Teamspeak. It could probably just be a setting or something easy, but maybe not.
