I would not necessarily assume that. Some people just don't bother with replying (yes, also on TG) or you just used a wrong channel where noone could hear you etc. It once happened to me that noone seemingly could see my text chat messages in side chat (even though this may also have been a case of noone bothering ).

I have not yet seen a case where Arma (2) had problems with any microphone, so maybe just try again, maybe announcing your mic check in text chat and then asking again afterwards in text if anyone had heard you. Maybe you can find someone on the server who is willing to do some debugging with you (try different channels etc.). I am happy to help out, so you could ask me when you see me on the server.

As Bert pointed out, if you feel no one can hear you. Type out a test question in Text. If you still get no response either you are playing with super oblivious people or happen to be in the wrong channel. Happens all the time.

Re: ARMA 2 Communications..

also....at least in Domination...you should know there is a bug that affects comms. It is related to your proximity to other players. If you spawn in at base and other players are on the other side of the map several channels won't iin game until you are within close proximity. After you link up they seem to work fine though. This doesn't seem to affect Global channel, but of course we steer people away from Global.

Have you guys tried B's suggestion?

Mainly the suggestion to update/revert sound drivers.

I like VON being on. Adds a good element to the game. That said there's way to much chatter all the time. I'd prefer to have just squad, vehicle and priority comms on VON with SL's and CO's coordinating via TS. It'd cut out LOTS of chatter to the regular grunt.

Re: ARMA 2 Communications..

Hopefully the issue with Direct VON is sorted soon (not fading properly) as that effects every channel.

The new Command channel is very good, people just need to use it. It really does cut out a lot of the radio traffic that the grunts hear, as only the group leaders hear the channel.

Re: ARMA 2 Communications..

I also like the VON. I prefer VON over TS. I have no idea who is talking, JIP s run around in different channels not knowing what is going on, extra time to set up and change channels... all that is poof... gone.

I hope we stick with VON. Direct is not that bad the new changelog says Sound speed simulation is fixed... it might be the fading thingy...

For all those who have trouble working with the VON, it is on the user end. Gamer rigs have the latest video drivers but not the latest audio drivers. Plus explore your sound settings thoroughly. Some people sending their Output into input also might cause problems such as static. Speakers set up with mic? big time no no with VON. In recording select your mic only and mute everything else.

All this can be done with a USB headset. They have only one input which is the mic and output is isolated.

I still praise VON, I think it is the best thing. People just need to constantly think about how their transmission over side channel about his food distrupts other players.

Re: ARMA 2 Communications..

Myself and many others are experiencing VON troubles on dedicated servers and also locally hosted servers. Problems include increased lag when VON is used, VON cutting in and out causing portions of communication to be lost and also it just plain cuts out at times.

I think we could leave VON on, direct talk over von can be useful and fun at times. However, I would like to see a return to our old squad-based TS channels. That way a mission commander can choose to use TS if he chooses.

yea I liked TS better even with its flaws, VON is pretty bad for me. I see it more as a annoyance, especially becasue you can recive all channels at the same time and it sounds horrible. I also hate the fact people cut out all the time when talking and I cant understand what to do.

Re: ARMA 2 Communications..

VON has always worked for me, guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Go back to TS or screw over the unlucky players with VON problems... that's an ugly choice either way.
