Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
I would have to say that Falcon 4.0 is my favorite. Its a bit old but one of the best.It also has a hard learning curve but you will get use to it. My all time favorite is Janes USAF but I dont think it will work with vista or win7.
Nice flight stick by the way.

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
I am officially in love with Rise of Flight. Looks beautiful and feels fantastic with the hydraulics in the stick. Keeping control of that SPAD during take off is a fun challenge. I've only been through three of the tutorial missions so far, but I'm already having a blast.

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
Yeah, I forgot about rise of flight, it's really nice. But it's annoying because you have to edit your controls out of game, then start up to see if you like them, then shut down and change them again, then start up to see if you like them. Then you download the patch and it resets your controls to default so you get to do it all over again. But the game really is good.

You guessed right. It's pure fast&fun-style arcade with unlimited ammo and all that. Not even a little bit simulator ^^

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
I have FSX working on my triple-screen setup with TrackIR and the G940 flight sytem. Thought you guys might be interested in how it turned out:
So far I've found the beginner lessons in FSX to be a big help. I'm really enjoying FSX so far. X-Plane is pretty impressive, but definitely not user friendly. X-Plane seems to have the most realistic flight model and better graphics than FSX, but doesn't have any actual missions or training lessons or anything like that. X-Plane really is a simulator and not a game. But I can see it becoming more appealing to me once I learn more.
Thanks again to everyone for all the suggestions. It was helpful and I think I'm on the right track now.

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
Dude. I'm really tempted to buy TrackIR and three screens after that. You think my I7 with GTX260 will handle it, or will it be too much?

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
Yeah, I think you're hardware will handle it. But if you are going to keep your nVidia card, you'll need something like Triple-Head 2-Go from Matrox or a second video card with SoftTH running on your system in order to output to the 3 displays.

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
Nice set up miles. Ive been thinking of adding 2 montiors and you just sold me. I got a 28" lcd in middle, what size should i go with on the sides? Also will my GT275 run 3 montitors. My current monitor is running in hd 1080p will i still be able to run hd with 3 montitors?

Your card will definitely run three monitors if you are running something like TripleHead2Go. If I were you, I would try to get two more identical LCD's, so that the color temperature, brightness, and contrast is likely to be closely matched on all three screens. Another option would be to get some 4:3 "square" screens that have the same vertical height as your center monitor, and put those on the sides.
If you are up to it, I really can't recommend the Radeon 5870 enough. It's an amazing card. I've been an Nvidia guy for 15 years and this is the first time ATI has really pulled me away from them. Not only does Eyefinity make it nice and simple to play with multiple monitors, but it is the most powerful card on the market and most hardware experts think it will be another 6 months before Nvidia has something on the market to compete with it.
Another option, if you don't want to buy a 5870 and you don't want to buy TripleHead2Go, is SoftTH, which is a software based solution for Triple-Head gaming. You will need a second video card to connect the third monitor on, but splitting the picture across all screens is done with SoftTH instead of a hardware solution. I haven't used it, but I've heard it works fairly well but there is performance overhead.
For anyone else looking into TripleHead2Go by Matrox, make sure it will support your intended resolution. Currently, you can't go beyond 1680x1050 for each screen due to a limitation in the way it relies on DirectX.

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
Hi Guys, I find BOB 2 WOV the best simulation out there in terms of FM realism, AI, and of course real dynamic campaign. But beware its a hardcore sim

Re: Flight Sim Recommendations
The best way to learn DCS is to just read the manual and learn the cockpit controls. As for learning to fly that is all just a matter of practice. I flew for hours before I even tried to fire a gun because quite frankly I could barely take off, never mind land.
Also this may be helpful. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ml#Post2626185
