I'm curious about how many people here on TG have or use joysticks(And or just fly) and would be interested in either CoOp or TvT dog fight missions? I know I have limited experience flying and as much as I fly in singleplayer I don't think it's giving me the proper experience that flying in multiplayer would, but current missions generally leave aircraft(and generally not many of them) to limited CAS and mainly transport. So I was just wondering about the interest in aircraft heavy missions with very limited infantry options.

I'm slowly working my way through the editor, but I have no idea how long it'll be before I've got anything really down.

Operation Downtown is on ServerA and is a TVT Combat Air Patrol mission, along the lines of what you're describing.

Just haven't seen that one then. Wonder if anybody would be willing to play it.

Would it also be possible to get a running list of all the missions on the servers and a short description of each? It might help people be more familiar with the options we have to play so when we're sitting on the server trying to figure something out the admin doesn't have to list the available missions.

That's actually a very good idea...

Can we have a sticky with all the current missions on each server + brief description?

    Mission name - Dusk Eagle

Had an idea for this mission, but gone are the days of my mission making prime, so I'll post it up on here for someone to have a crack at.

The mission is a Blu-for co-op mission, designed for 9 players, though I'm sure a creative mission maker could think of other player positions.

    Situation:

After a daring raid on a Russian prison (not in the mission) a 6 man spec op team, along with their currently un-armed news reporter/civ/anyone, start in some woods nearby the north-west Airfield which is under Russian control.

There are small garrisons in all the nearby villages, one of which has some empty vodniks in, however, this is the heavier garrisoned of the lot. There are also civilian vehicles and a civilian population littering the landscape.

The Spec op team need extraction, they are deep in enemy territory, however, due to 'complications' the only air transport avaliable is a Hercules (CJ-130 I think?) stationed on the island to the south-east.

The Spec op team must quickly and efficiently capture the runway of the lightly guarded Airbase, in order to allow the Hercules to land and pick them up. While the Airbase is lightly Guarded, there is a heavy infantry garrison nearby, which are certain to counterattack. The Spec op team must hold them off until the transport has arrived.

The mission is intended to be played at dusk, with the intention of the light fading by the time the transport arrives.

I've tried getting the AI to land a C130 quickly and pick people up but it takes a good five minutes just to turnaround!

If the VIP dies, the mission is a faliure, however, the team must still get extracted.

If anyone played 'Hidden and Dangerous' back in the day, you may notice there was a mission very similar to this where a lancaster bomber came by to pick you're team up. I loved that mission, and this is essentially a 're-make'.

Let me know what you think!

An interesting mission concept a few of us had discussed on TS a few days ago, I'll make a post about it here for record purpose (so I remember I should do this eventually heh). Maybe someone else would like to start it up or something.

Mission submitted by: Group discussion on TS
    Mission Name: No idea
    ArmA Island Chosen: Chernarus
    CoOp/TvT: CoOp
    Mission Idea Overview (MIO):

Fairly simple in concept, undoubtedly complicated in execution. The players will be in a non-traditional mission role of purely a supporting element. They will be manning a mortar fire base and will be required to preform script generated fire missions every x minutes (probably around 5-10). However, ammunition will be a concern. The fire base has been cutoff by enemy activity near and around it, so resupply via truck is not possible. However, there are 2 MH-60s (could do it another faction, up to mission designer) available to transport the ammunition.

Slots would be roughly 4 mortar crews (gunner, a-gunner), a rifle section/squad for security AND for ammo transportation, 2 pilots. Ammo would be available at a main BLUFOR base somewhere, the helos would have to fly there, could make it interesting by spawning some random LIGHT AA threats (technicals, MG emplacements, nothing serious, the helos aren't SUPPOSED to die). Once they arrive, they can load crates of mortar ammunition, keep it at like 4 crates per helo or something. Each crate would have say 12 mortar rounds. Some scripts would be needed for this, but they are 90% completed.

Meanwhile, the troops at the FOB will be given fire missions that they have to complete, varying in size and intensity. A script will be needed to generate these missions and keep track of their completion. Could make it so that a proper fire mission needs to be done, ie: if it is a delayed fire mission and the players shoot too soon, the fire mission fails, or if they don't put enough rounds on target in time, it fails. If the players fail 3 fire missions in a row, the "offensive effort" collapses, and a crap ton of AI is spawned around the FOB, and they assault it. If the players survive the assault (some sort of objective for the AI, get to a specific point of something), they can continue their fire missions.

End state of the mission wouldn't be clearly defined, kind of an arcade, last as long as you can type of thing. Eventually mistakes will be made, and things will go horribly wrong

There are a few scripts that will need to be designed and tested, but they are all relatively simple, and won't require anything "unconventional". I think this would make for a good mission for low player counts, as you could do it with as few as 2 people, or up to like 20.

    Thoughts?

Sounds good, it would be good if the security squad actually had to defend the firebase, from randomly generated attacks as well, so people who want to play in gunfights, still get their 'fix'

I am building a mission right now that is based around civil war in CHER. and most of the civilians are fleeing south during the night. Force Recon Units and Marine units are tasked with inserting from LHD and providing Guard duty while civilians are air lifted out. The mission gets heavy quick but my question is how stressed does the server get if i place ALOT of civilian units? Picture this mission like the news you see in Africa of people fleeing their country. Its a rather dark and gloomy mission that unravels as time progresses.

"Team Yankee" by Harold Coyle. A book I read back in HS that would make for a really nice Armor mission. Anybody read it? Your typical Russian push into west Germany an the fight that ensues thru to the counter attack an offensive to push Russian Forces back into pre war lines.
Wanted to make a mission about this on Saharani but very limited mission making skills here.

    [TG] 2nd_BN_5thCav_CO-50

    Mission Submitted by: Nick Nitro

    Island: Chernarus

    50 Player Coop

    Description:
This mission very closely resembles the landing at LZ Xray by the 5th Cav in Vietnam. The peak to be assaulted is Misty peak. A difficult mission that needs all the assets in a coordinated assault.

    Assets and Slots:
    1. 6 Playable Rifle Squads (7 squad members each)
    2. 3 Dust-off UH-1 Helicopters with Playable Pilots
    3. 2 LGB Harriers in Reserve and 1 Reserve Blackhawk
    4. 1 Playable Razor Team
    5. Forward Artillery and Rear Heavy Artillery (3rd party artillery package by SoccerBoy_TM, modified by me) with playable Artillery Commander

    Operation:

Included artillery commander to enhance realism when requesting firemissions. Those familiar with this artillery package know that firemissions are in realistic format (Immediate, 6 round HE, 4, 100m dispersal). Artillery assets are divided into 3 groups, fwd 252 Mortars and rear 119 and 270. The idea is to have squad leaders request firemissions from artillery commander.

    Third Party Scripts:
    - SoccerBoy_TM artillery package v1.03
    - Fire from heli door
    - AI respawn to WP

So I'm watching AMC, and Clear and Present Danger is on. While watching, I can't help but think how most of the scene's could be easily recreated. (Well I don't do any modding, So I'm just saying they seem possible) Might be a nice mission for 8-10 people.

I think it'd be fine with the current map/units, but would be cool if there eventually was a sort of cartel unit/structure/map pack too. Obviously a much bigger undertaking, but I'd like to see some sort of jungle warfare w/ some nice waterways/wooden plank bridges and what not.
