Well, I cleaned my box...vacuumed and the works. Apparently it's Housekeeping FTW. Everything seems stable now for the most part. In the process I learned my computer doesn't like any of the new updates for my audio/video devices, so I had to roll them back after updating.

Anyhow, thanks for all the help guys!

Just a warning Atomic Dog it is not a good idea to use a vacum in your computer. It can create static electricity and fry things without you ever knowing. I would suggest getting the canned air for cleaning electronics and blasting away with it. Be sure to properly ground yourself if you are reaching in for any reason.

On a side note I played last night with Cammys sound mod, TSO and -maxmem=512 for almost two hours without issue. I did use the flush command on occasion. I'm going to try -maxmem=768 as others with a similar setup to mine said it works as good or better. Knock on wood for all the Arma CTD'ers

Long Bow. The creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card has a outdated EAX incompatible with Arma. You must disable it cause olny the Sound Blaster XFI cards have the kind of EAX that Arma uses.

    Re: System freezing, audio loop?

Thanks Curt. I have tried that and it seems to help but not eliminate the problem. I believe my problem is a combination of using the the correct -maxmem=### setting and mods. I have started using maxmem 512 or 768, along with using the flush command. I get much less problems now but the more mods I use the more likely it seems I am to crash.

Good thing X-mas is coming, a new X-Fi card should fit under the tree

Ok I had a BSOD last night after the game froze up. I managed to get the error log from the Arma File, here is the last few entries:

Anyone see anything obvious? I was using the FDF sound mod, True view, Arma effects and -maxmem=512 as well I used the in game flush command a few times throughout. EAX is dissabled but hardware acceleration is on. I have lowered my overclock on the CPU a little to see if it causes errors but won't be able to test until tonight.

I am having the exact issues you described Long Bow. I have the same graphics card, but the rest of our setups are different possibly excepting brand of mobo. I have a Nvidia motherboard, Core2Duo CPU and X-Fi audio card.

Wish I knew how to read these. My guesses based on my experience and the thoughts in this thread is heat, Nvidia chipset drivers or Nvidia graphics drivers. I don't overclock, but my CPU is in a ventilated cabinet. The vent fan runs almost constantly even at idle, so I may have to rearrange things to get more air in there.

I'm updating drivers mentioned above and will report what else I find.

    Re: System freezing, audio loop?

Boot I tried the 169.xx drivers and they caused graphical issues, but not crashes, go figure. I know a few others had the same problem in Arma with these newer drivers. I have gone back to 163.75 (I think?) and it works fine but I still crash sometimes.

I think the problem is Arma with the 8800 series cards, there seems to be problems no matter the configuration for most people.

Heat can cause issues with computers but if your not getting this type of problem when using other intensive applications or games it probably isn't heat. I have fans, fan controller and an aftermarket heat sink on my cpu. I use Rivatuner to run my video card fan at 100% once I get over 60 deg. and it never goes much higher then low 60's (these cards can handle hi 70's safely). My point is that I have planned for and monitor heat for both my cpu and video card yet still have problems in Arma but not other apps. Good luck.
