Thatīs it..ArmA works!
I have just assembled a new computer and was looking forward to play this game since my old computer was too slow!
The new one has Vista x64 SP1, E8400, 8GB ram and a GTX 280...and of course ArmA didnīt work.
Iīve been playing around with the patches with no luck.
Today I re-installed and patched it up to 1.14 and still only a black screen...then I turned off XP-compatibility...and now it works...!!!!

Rottencrotch, did you see a bunch of companies are giving a big cash back for people who bought the 280 this early? I know of 3 companies, and there may be others. EVGA and XFX and 1 other I am blanking on right now.
