Thanks. Got it fixed. I can run ArmA without the -dsound command. I feel stupid. Its the first thing I should've tried.

Thanks very much for this thread, i had given up on trying to get arma to work. I built a new rig with vista 64 and i just couldnt get arma running properly. Removed my sound card, used on board, cleared drivers, refreshed em, etc etc....
The openal removal and reinstall did it. Thanks
