That's going to be a killer rig. Hopefully it will bring ARMA2 in check.

    1) As far as I know there are no games out there that fully utilize the quad cpu, I would suggest to go with E8400.
    2) Asus P5N-D, is a good motherboard, good FSB, good memory support, good overclocking software and it fully utilize x16 x16 PCI express for SLI mode. I heard bad reviews about nVidia chipset on Asus motherboards but this could be few people nagging and hating nVidia or Asus.
    3) Video card: do your own research.
    4) Go with Antec Nine Hundred Two, it has one big ass fan on top of the case, one at the back, two at the front and you can install an optional fan at the side. With this case however you can’t control fan speed within windows OS, you have to open the case and do it through the fan provided switch “low, medium, high”.
    5) 750W, research this PSU and make sure single rail 12v+ will provide you with at least 40A depending on your graphic card.
    6) With 2GB memory, you’d probably get vista 32bit and in the future if you decided to go 8GB “which your motherboard supports” then you’ll need to buy vista 64bit.

    Hope that helped.
I would suggest you build your own PC, but research carefully, start with your chipset but know first if you want crossfile or SLI or single graphic card that would make it easier choosing the right chipset, then chose your motherboard.

Sorry if there were grammar mistakes or spelling. I’m writing this email from work.

hmm, that's weird. I'm able to run this game with ATI card and vista 64!

Thanks InFireBaptize, but I already solved the problem. I didn't install the patches correctly.

Actually, there are a few game that use all 4 cores, and just about every major game getting released from here on is starting to use multi-cores. ARMA devs just said you are going to want a quad in their recomended specs, and the rigs they let reporters play on at the german show were quads.

GRAW2 and CRYSIS/WARHEAD are 2 off the top of my head that use all 4.

ptewatson30059785, as browna3 said, if you say where you live, it will be easier to know if you are talking about 500-600 bananas or coconuts. But assuming that you talking about coconuts, I think that will be hard to find a laptop to play arma2, for that amount.

EDIT: And welcome to Tactical Gamer.

You can almost build a desktop that will decently play ARMA2 for about $600, but $750 or so would be much much better.

And forget finding a laptop for $600 that is going to make you happy playing ARMA2.

How will an 8800GT, 3.0 Ghz Dual Core, and 8 gigs of ram do with ArmA 2?

You can play it, most probably on med to med-high settings. Whether you'll like the result is another.

Ask Socomseal, he's got a similar graphics card as you do and the cpu. He might be able to assist you better.

Thumbs up Re: New Pc For Arma + Arma2

So I recently moved my gaming tower to my new home in New Orleans, and after a day of usage in NOLA the graphics card died on me. I've decided to just build a new rig because the components in the old tower are extremely outdated.
    Here are the specs:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB

    SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16

ASRock K10N78 AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 ATX AMD Motherboard

    Rendition by Crucial 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

    Western Digital Caviar Green WD6400AACS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5

    BFG Tech GS-550 550W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply

The most demanding game I currently plan on playing is Arma2, how well do you guys think it will run it? Thanks in advance guys
P.S. It will be running windows XP.
