Editing Ace_config
Hi Guys,
before I go out and splash out on a new GFX card I wanted to see if turning off the spent shell casings had any effect on FPS. Beita suggested doing this. As I have 2 left hands when it comes to techie stuff I was wondering if anyone could tell me how and where this is done.
best regards
Rampart

Re: Editing Ace_config
Auf deutsch? ;-P
Okay, here you go. In your Arma directory, go to the directory "Dta\ACE". There you have the file "ace_clientside_config.hpp". Edit it with any text editor available, like the infamous Notepad. Find this part here:
Change it in any way you like, but for starters, to see if it helps at all, just disable it completely as described in the // comment by changing "enabled = 1;" to "enabled = 0;". If I was you, I would just go out and get the biggest GFX card available, that would be the proper solution and prepare you for Arma 2.Code:// Enable ejected casings staying on ground class ACE_FX_CARTRIDGES_E { enabled = 1; // change to 0 to disable max_cartridges = 500; // max. amount of cartridges on map max_distance = 0; // max. distance until cartridges become deleted by FIFO max_lifetime = 600; // lifetime of cartridges in seconds min_FPS = 15; // min. FPs when cartridges become deleted };

No seriously thanks mate. I will mess around with the config first and see what happens. If this doesnt work then I will be checking back here for some decent GFx card tips from all and sundry.

Re: Editing Ace_config
You shouldn't be worried with FPS with that graphics card...
Try to force vertical sync off, in nvidia control panel -> 3D settings -> ArmA.exe
EDIT: My guess is that your CPU is the handicap.

Re: Editing Ace_config
**update** yeah Ive been having that nagging feeling for some time........might have to see what CPU my mobo could potentially take. Ill check back here with the type of mobo....maybe you can tell me what CPU I should go for then. I know this much its a Gigabyte Mobo
Details on Mobo
Gigabyte 965P-S3 Rev. C2 Socket 775 LGA
Hope you guys can suggest a decent processor upgrade....got about 300 to 400 bucks to blow
best
