ArmA 2 Reinforcements stopped working
Recently ArmA has been crashing on me with subject error message. Found on BIS forums that it isn’t a new issue but has been around for awhile. Apparently there is a modline that fixes it http://forums.bistudio.com/showthrea...reinforcements or you can do what I did. Look in your ArmA 2 and/or ArmA 2 OA folders and remove the file named dsound.dll.

Thanks for sharing Zap. Will take a closer look when at the computer.
The file dsound.dll is a file for ACRE. So if you want to try so just move it to another folder. Will check the mod line solution soon.

If you have this problem then add this to your mod line. Looks like a temporary ACRE issue.

Just to keep this accurate tonight I had the same crash and I no longer have dsound.dll on my computer. This error was not seen before 1.60 RC2

Had occasional crashes like that, never actually worried about them. Just put them down to games being games, and therefore prone to crashing.

Have you tried the "-noautoupdate"?

The RC4 is supposed to be backwards compatable with the previous release candidates so if your eager give it a try Zap. It is supposed to fix many of the crash issues of the previous RC's.
Yet, the full release is still supposed to happen b4 the 25th as of the last time I checked.

Tried both fixes but still getting this error. Seems to be completely random though, can sometimes play for 3 hours sometimes for 5 minutes be for this crash happens.

I started getting this issue myself today. I'm seeing messages that "Battleye has caught an exception" before the crash happens. Then the game freezes & everyone else sees a message the Battleye kicked me due to my client not responding.
This only happened after my PMC would not finish installing for the last 3 days so I deleted it to allow a full reinstall of it today. Will look into it more. Let me know if this is similar to what you guys have done.
edit: my issue was resolved after I took the cheap ram i'd put in that day right back out of my machineLast edited by Unkl; 12-29-2011 at 01:22 PM.

With 1.60 RC2 I started getting "Reinforcements has stopped working" crashes. However other gamers told me I was kicked by Battleye. I had been using Direct x Overlay plugin that now comes packaged with Teamspeak 3. That plugin has known issues with anti-hacking software but I didn’t suspect it because it had worked just fine with 1.59 and Battleye. But since I turned off the overlay plugin I haven’t had any crashes. I assume some of the 1.60 changes have now made this plugin unusable with this game.

According to Dwarden they think they have this crash fixed with this beta patch http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=129429 I’m going to patch, turn the overlay back on, and test some more. Also note this beta patch supposedly fixes other server and client crashes as well.

TeamSpeak overlay used to (I no longer use it after several trials) crash the game prior to 1.60 without fail for me.
Win7 64bit.
