Re: Help
Welcome Mr Fighter. I think I can speak for all of us around the TG Armed Assault community when I say that age is far less important than maturity level.
You have the title correct: Armed Assault Combat Operations.
Make sure you read the forums around here before deciding to buy. This is less a game than it is a real time simulator. Armed Assault offers a level of immersion that I've never found in any other game. The goal in Armed Assault is to stay alive, not rack up kills. Like real life there are long periods of waiting, transporting, rearming between thrilling and terrifying moments of combat. Often times you respawn many miles from the frontlines and must be transported to the frontlines, necessitating long waits between combat operations. Sometimes mission preparation takes more time than the mission itself. For many of us however this is the appeal to Armed Assault. If this is what you are looking for we'd love to have you on board. The community is very welcoming. Everyone knows the learning curve is steep and most players are happy to show you the ropes.
If you are looking for a fast paced action shooter...this is not it.
Cheers...seek me out on TS or in game and I'd be glad to help you out.|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Help
if you can get someone to buy it on ebay for you it would be so much cheaper. I got mine for $6.50 excluding shipping which costs about $4.90.

Re: Help
Actually there is a good bit of cussing, in both single and multiplayer.

Re: Help
Do you have the english version? Not trying to joke, but not sure if you might have a french version or something.
There is a good bit of cussing in the monolog of the single player story, and I hear players cussing all the time when they report another player down, and your own player does it on revive missions while you lay there wounded.

Re: Help
You just made me laugh. Yes i have an ENGLISH version :P
Never played the campaign. And as for other players cussing...as far as I remember its the same thing in BF2...
Not here to argue...just telling the kid this game is not more violent than BF2 or any shooter out there (Rainbow Six / Ghost Recon / etc...) and that might be a strong point to convice his "boss" (mother I presume) that this game is not worse than any other game out there despite its "M" rating.

Re: Help
Mr Fighter, may I make a suggestion? If you do want to buy ArmA try looking for it on Ebay first. New it may be around $9.00 S&H included. That is where I bought my copy from and all went well.
As for the game, i am new to it as well. I only did the basic training scenarios and then jumped right in the game. I played a couple of nights on the TG server but have not played any more cause I never see anybody in there. When I did play on the TG server I tried my best to follow the SL. Figured it was better if they died before I did and gave me a chance to run away screaming for mommy, lol.
Arma is a little slower to get use to that PR, in PR you can instantly switch weapons but in Arma you need to take time to chose the command to switch weapons or reloading.
My big suggestion is do like I did first, try downloading the demo and see how you like it then. The demo isn't much fun though. Not many SP missions and MP hardly has anybody on it. I had to create my own server just to get an idea, people had started joining almost instantly after I created the server though. I am glad I bought ArmA.
On Ebay, do multiple searches for ArmA, Armed Assault, ArmA: Combat Operations, or Armed Assault: Combat Operations. That way you may actually see more than just a few sellers. I also bought from an Ebay store for reliability reasons, most stores will try to make good on what they sell you if it is defective.

Re: Help
when you buy make sure to get the atari version as that is the north american version. as for cursing the single player campagin says the F word a lot, but seeing as how singleplayer sucks just dont play it. As for MP the only cursing I hear is when a teammate goes down the squad leader say damn or hell and thats about it. there is really no gore involved just a little blood here and there. I also would suggest you take your time and learn everything. try to stay infantry for a few weeks then try tanks. Try not to touch aircraft unless someone teaches you how to use it properly.
