Re: How about a touch of discipline?

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Blackdog put the fear of the Mouldy Grape into them.
Seriously though, that is a good thing. The more serious players on board, the easier it is to try and lead a mission. Things still can go wrong (and ALWAYS do, no exceptions), but with serious players, they won't go run off the moment something doesn't go as planned. Then tend to stick around and wait for new orders.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Yeah I like the sound of that and since most ofthem haven't even bothered to sign up to the forums, they'll have no idea what a mouldy grape is lol"Black Dog1 this is Alpha Lead, we have a Mouldy Grape - REPEAT - Mouldy Grape at Grid Hotel Golf five two"
"Roger that Alpha Lead. We have your coords and a fire mission is on the way - of the big black boot variety. Black Dog 1 out!"

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Yeah I'm gonna throw in a comment too.
This is one of the major reasons why I haven't played Arma lately is the lack of discipline people always typing or talking, not staying off the side channel. I tried to lead once but it did not go well because there was some overall confusion of where to set up an L shaped ambush and where the enemy convoy was actually coming from. After that I let some one else lead because it's difficult when 3 or 4 guys in you squad are not listening or don't have mics.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
I just thought I would remind you all of something that ArmA has that all of the other games have here at TG. Contact an Admin forums. Just as you would in all other games, especially due to the shear difficulty it is to administrate ArmA, please hit "p" and take a ss/write down ArmA IDs of players who are not playing according to TG standards... Much like BF2, it is very hard for admins to deal with everyone at all times due to the huge amount of space. If you have people in your squad or near you that are actin a fool, go grab their IDs and post em up and we will take care of it for sure.
Thanks
and please , cobra, get your beehind back in the server man!, we need MORE people like you ON the server, not less.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Seriously, some players apparently don't even realize how much they talk - it irks me to no end hearing what amounts to white noise on side channel. I'd rather not mute people (in order to hear the occasional useful communication from them) but the choices are: leave the server, mute them, or make them aware that what they're doing is disruptive. I chose the last option once and it was initially taken as a personal attack - so it does require some tact. Afterward they were much more concious about comms.
The key point is that one person without comms discipline degrades the experience for EVERYONE - so please, don't just let it slide.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Last night was a prime example of that I don't know if the guy got kicked but he was abusing the side channel I guess he figured he could do that since he took the SL role but he kept going on and on about stuff that wasn't even related to what we were doing it was very distracting. I don't know if he was kicked or not because I had to leave shortly after that.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Yep, yesterdays mission on the first server was rather fubar. Like others have said the problem was mostly having such a "complex" mission on a server where in any random people can join. Other than that discipline at least when I am usually on has maintained a good level thanks to the hard work of Grunt, Blackdog, Beta, Tripper, Scop, etc.

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
If one of the TG admins aren't in game than you must step up and track down an admin on TS or the other server. If no one is about as an admin than take the player name down and report him on the proper thread...This is YOUR server. You can't expect 100 percent admin coverage 100 percent of the time. Simply jumping on and declaring there was a problem is important for us to know but without further information or said action all your doing is pointing out the obvious. No name, no server number, no time of day, no mission ???...How are we to build on that?

Re: How about a touch of discipline?
Actually there was an admin online I think it was blackdog like I also said I had to quit so I do not know if the guy was kicked or not. I think it was Blackdog that was telling the ones doing it to stop spamming the chat channels
